South Sound can also experience the same seasonal sargassum that affects most of the Caribbean. Sargassum is a generally harmless floating seagrass that is more unsightly than anything. Fortunately, the Seven Mile Beach area (SMB) of Grand Cayman does not ordinarily see sargassum accumulation. All beaches in Cayman are public up to the high-water mark so guests can visit the beautiful beach areas along SMB for sandy, walk-in swimming if the beach entry is not to your liking – ask us for daily recommendations.
