理查德盧文赫茲飯店(Hotel Richard Löwenherz)

Spacious, clean, grand hotel on the shore of the Danube. We opted for a room with a view of the river and are quite glad we did. Our room was spacious with good lighting and nice water pressure. The beds were a bit more firm than we like, but we couldn't call them "uncomfortable" as that can be very subjective. As with many hotels in Europe, there is no air conditioning. However, thanks to the thick stone walls, you can get by with a fan if use your shades and shutters wisely on hot days. Breakfast was one of the best, with hot food (bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage), fresh fruit, yogurts, meat, cheese, pastries and more, served in bright, spacious dining rooms. The town of Dürnstein itself is small and can be quite full of tourists during the day. That there is plenty of free parking at the hotel is a wonderful benefit. Because it is located in a small town, there is a handful of restaurants and bars, if you don't want to eat at the hotel's restaurant. This was an excellent base from which we explored the Wachau valley.

Perfect location in the heart of Wachau. We stayed in Suite Margareta, the only suite (as far as I know) with a balcony and a wonderful view on the Danube and the hills around. Hotel very clean, room well equipped, tasty breakfast. Staff very nice and helpful. Parking lots in the courtyard, narrow streets and gates give extra adrenaline if you're coming by car ;) We stayed for 2 nights and made short trips to Krems and Göttweig.

Das Hotel befindet sich in einem ehemaligen Kloster. Die Einrichtung aller Räumlichkeiten zeigt vom Geschmack der Besitzer, die Bilder an den Wänden zeigen Motive aus der Wachau. Unser Zimmer hatte Blick zur Gartenseite, es war absolut ruhig und ebenfalls von stilvoller Ausstattung. Das Badezimmer war modern. Auch das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen. Ebenfalls ein Highlight ist die Restaurantterrasse mit traumhaftem Blick auf die Donau; dort die gute Küche zu genießen, sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen! Das Hotelpersonal ist ebenfalls sehr zuvorkommend, insbesondere die Damen im Frühstücksraum! Ein absoluter Ruheort ist der Klostergarten mit Pool (zum Schwimmen war es noch zu frisch), wahrhaft ein Juwel. Im Hof des Hotels gibt es im Normalfall ausreichend Parkplätze, sodass man nicht auf die öffentliche Parkplätze außerhalb der Mauern des malerischen Dürnsteins ausweichen muss.

Große und saubere Zimmer. Sehr bequeme Betten! Nettes Personal. Frühstück sehr gut, viel Auswahl. Laktosefreie Produkte sind vorhanden und sind sogar angeschrieben. Lage direkt in der Fußgängerzone von Dürnstein. Parkplätze sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Alles in allem ein super Urlaub!!!

I upgraded to a room with a view of the river and balcony. It had that but you could only get a glimpse of the river if you walked out on the balcony. The room didn't smell very fresh and felt dated. The bed was super soft and hard for us to get a good night's sleep. The dinner menu was not very good and wasn't rated well on Trip Advisor so we didn't eat there but breakfast was great. For us, the town would have been fine to visit for an hour. It was too touristy with bus loads of people coming at one time and this was off-season. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Das "Richard Löwenherz" gilt als das beste Hotel in Dürnstein Und ja, die Lage an der Donau ist auch wunderschön und einen so großen Garten mit ebenfalls großem Pool muss man anderswo erst finden. Die uns, eine Wandergruppe, zugeteilten Zimmer waren ausreichend groß und mit Stilmöbeln ausgestattet; allein die Badezimmer sind deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und erinnern in ihrem Ambiente und ihrer Ausstattung eher an eine preisgünstige Frühstückspension als an ein hochpreisiges 4-Sterne-Hotel. Wirklich problembehaftet waren allerdings unsere Erfahrungen mit der Gastronomie. Dass die Tafel mit dem "Willkomen"-Gruß am Eingang zur Terrasse nicht für den ganzen Tag gemeint sein kann, haben wir erfahren, als die - grundsätzlich nette Dame im Service - plötzlich zum kassieren kam und wir auch keine weiteren umsatzfördernden Getränke (ganz preiswert ist das Glas Wein ja nicht und Dürnstein liegt mitten in der Weinregion Wachau) bestellen konnten. Bis dahin war die Verwunderung über die Aussage bei unserer Ankunft, "die Küche schließt in 20 Minuten", schon beinahe vergessen. Man hat ja Verständnis dafür, dass es nicht rund um die Uhr (sagen wir also einschränkend durchgängig von 11:30 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr) vollständige Menüs gibt/geben kann. Aber dass an einem der schönsten Plätze in der Wachau und am Rande des Donauradweges am Nachmittag nicht einmal Kleinigkeiten (Würstel, Suppentopf, Käse, uä.) oder Getränke angeboten werden, ist auch mit viel gutem Willen nicht nachvollziehbar. Aber vielleicht sind möglicherweise schwitzende Radler oder Wanderer ja auch nicht die angestrebte Zielgruppe. Da klagt die Gastronomie - nicht ganz unberechtigt - über fehlende Gäste und dann gibt es hier eine offensichtliche Geschäftspolitik, die auf zahlungsbereite (und potentiell zahlungskräftige) Gäste verzichtet. Schade - und keine Werbung für Dürnstein.

We spent two enjoyable nights at this hotel. It’s charm derives from traditional attention to serving the guests (no doubt resulting from the decades of management by the family owners), but also it’s unique history (being built in the remains of a medieval monastery). The hotel benefits not just from its quirky old world charm, but also it’s spacious public rooms and layout more generally. It’s gardens (including a swimming pool) and views over the Danube and beyond. The outside dinner terrace is a delightful setting for dinner on warmer evenings. I would recommend highly.

overprized hotel in beautiful place but average condition. Terrible pillows, not blackouts on the windows, average breakfast with older bread , definitely not worth 287 euros per night ..

Such a nice place! Rooms are very clean and very well arranged, bathrooms spotless, staff is very professional and friendly, great breakfast, very beautiful and peaceful garden and best location in town. Absolutely recommend!
