Spent 2 days and 2 nights at the end of October, a week after peak foliage but still serene and beautiful. Awesome view of the cliffs of the state park. The outdoor swimming pool (it’s heated!) was totally unused and awesome - 0 kids or anyone else for that matter, also had 2 jacuzzis to myself the whole time (best time to go is right before dinner / when spa shuts down at 6:30). Went walking around the property (short flat walks pretty easy) - the woods are amazing by the river with all sorts of birds there so bring binoculars and be peaceful. Many folks had big dogs which was pretty fun, some had babies (maybe less fun). The restaurant was crowded but the best place to sit is around the central fire at entrance - people come and go so plenty of spots. Food at Clay is great, albeit quite heavy. Service can be faster - way understaffed on a Sunday morning and $8 for a small cappuccino?!? A lot of thoughtful choices: vent above shower to remove steam, bone broth in the indoor swimming pool (from Clay) for something warm and hearty (and salty) along with nuts/granola, binoculars/flashlight in the room, blankets and quilts in the room, etc. HVAC ****** though was confusing to determine if it was cooling or warming and they could improve some of the signage where rooms are (brown metal signs which can be hard to read).
