From the moment we arrived at this luxurious boutique hotel in a beautifully restored merchant’s house we really felt like honoured guests. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly and the whole place is absolutely gorgeous and very stylish. Our first floor bedroom was stunning and had a lovely lounge area with a selection of books. The bathroom was also indulgent with double basins, a big shower and a bath with bath salts and even a candle (and matches). In the dressing area, there was plenty of wardrobe space, a fridge, kettle, coffee machine, hairdryer - everything had been thought of and it was all perfect! The food in the Church Street Social restaurant was excellent - whatever time of day. And the bar (with its Happy Hour) did great cocktails and drinks! I can’t think of anything else the team could do to improve this lovely hotel - it’s perfect! And we will be back next time we’re in Sri Lanka!

I stayed one night here and honestly would have stayed longer if I was not focused on having a yoga retreat. The service is fantastic! The staff were so helpful and kind. The helped me find a place to do yoga and their recommendations were of high calibre. My room was very nice, clean and you can tell they pay attention to detail. The spa is excellent, I had a fabulous massage there. The hotel is also situated in a quieter street on the fort, but very easy access to other restaurants, bars and shops. Honestly such good service, I cannot rave enough about the staff.

My husband and I are return visitors to Fort Bazaar. We bring family visiting from Australia here to explore the Galle Fort which is a UNESCO heritage site. This old merchant’s house has been meticulously transformed into a boutique hotel. The friendly staff, beautiful rooms, delicious food enhance your fort experience. Don’t miss out on Sundowners on the verandah of Church Street Social and watch the world go by. We look forward to returning again soon.

It's hard to imagine a warmer welcome or more enjoyable stay than I experienced at Fort Bazaar. We had been warned it was monsoon season so had only booked a couple of nights - a big mistake. The monsoon is definitely over-hyped and the weather was great. First Bazaar oozes understated luxury while remaining intimate and friendly. Its somewhere I will definitely revisit. The bedrooms were beautiful - large and airy. And the restaurant / bar area of Church Street Social was a gem and even featured a happy hour and a great wine selection. A highlight was our cooking class with the head chef which was held in the shade under the hotel's ancient banyan tree. Sri Lankan food is an absolute revelation and a joy to eat. Fort Bazaar is in a great location within Galle Fort and has the most charming and capable team - highly recommended
