So not all hotels are equal and comparing a modern luxe hotel with here is like comparing a camel with a cat. On a few levels it is deserving of 2 or 3 stars - no lift, rustic stairs and poor lighting in the corridors, inefficient noise insulation and a view to the sea in the distance but also overlooking a convenient car park. However what it lacks it more than makes up for in soul - charming and attentive staff, Uber cool sustainable interiors, one of the best Negronis I have ever had, a perfect smoked salmon and scrambled eggs cooked in the blink of an eye, copious Bramley products, an inventive mini bar, very cool bath, one of the best showers in the world,a very comfortable and well thought out room and a vibe that is one of just welcome and be as opposed to ostentatious nonsense. It’s rustic, its relaxed, its different, its cool and its very very good
