瑪麗亞別墅飯店(Villa Maria-Syros)

Bella casa d’epoca arredata con gusto, stanza meravigliosa. 3 finestre, con vista mare. Tuttavia il prezzo richiesto (140 euro a notte, giustificato dal periodo pasquale) è eccessivo, dato che il servizio è quello di un B&Β: la camera non è mai stata pulita, il letto ce lo siamo fatti da soli, in 6 giorni ci hanno cambiato gli asciugamani 1 volta ( e in quell’occasione hanno dato una pulita al bagno). La colazione ( a pagamento e cara) non viene servita prima delle 9 e quindi siamo dovuti andare al caffè per farla. Il fatto è che per andare al bar bisogna fare i 117 scalini anche piuttosto alti che dividono Villa Maria dalla piazza. L’albergo infatti è raggiungibile solo a piedi. Il che è normale in una città come Ermoupoli, ma dovrebbe essere segnalato per clienti che avessero un problema. Era presente un gruppo di anglosassoni per un corso di cucina che la sera era piuttosto rumoroso. In bassa stagione si può soggiornare per un prezzo giusto ( 70 Euro) e in questo caso lo consiglio vivamente, specie a chi ha buone gambe.

We attended the Greek Day Cooking class and it was fabulous ! Learning about different foods/herbs from different islands and mainland was so interesting. We cooked 7 Greek recipes and had lots of fun in Elisa's big, beautiful kitchen ending in a glorious Greek feast! A must do while visiting Syros !

This place exceeded my expectations. Not only was it beautifully decorated but it was obvious there had been considerable consideration to small touches like quality of bedding and fixtures. There were so many options for relaxing, whether it be on the roof terrace which had exceptional views, or on the covered terrace area below or in the seated area by the kitchen. This was all topped off by the warmth and kindness if both Elisa and Kostas who treat you like old friends from the moment they meet you.

Beautifully restored villa slightly up from the main square in Ermoupoli. Lovely external areas and fantastic roof top views! Thoroughly recommend cooking classes too.

Elisa and Kostas have created the most wonderful place to stay. Carefully renovated to provide a comfortable, beautiful, relaxing house, our room (Narkissos) was all we could have asked for. If you stay, join a cookery class (we did the 8 day course), you won't regret it.

Villa María is a beautiful house with several apar**ents in the center of Ermoupoulis. Our room was great, with a large bathroom and a mezzanine with a bed. There are several areas in the courtyard to sit, eat and relax, and a gorgeous roof terrace. Kostas is amazing, he gave us many tips on restaurants and beaches, and he was right every time! We loved our time in Syros and Ermoupoli. Great island, beautiful city and amazing place to stay.

We stayed with Kostas and Elisa for three nights and we wanted to stay for a lot longer. Our room had stunning views of the harbour and the clear blue skies over the harbour. Our hosts gave us a great orientation to the island and we found their advice to be spot on. The beach at Kini was outstanding. And there were several others that looked gorgeous and which we would have visited if we had time. We travelled on the local bus (1.60 euros) and found it easy and comfortable. Kostas recommended a couple of tavernas and we found the food to be delicious. We joined Elisa's cooking and wine tasting class. It was a wonderful way to learn more about the cuisine of Syros as well as the rest of Greece. Elisa shared many cultural tidbits as we cooked and we followed the cooking with a leisurely dinner, paired with Greek wines that lasted into the evening. I highly recommend a visit to Syros, definitely staying at Villa Maria. And if you like to cook, definitely join Elisa's class. It's a highlight.

Costas, the owner and manager, greeted us in the town square, warmly welcomed us, and then carried our luggage up the multiple steps to his lovely renovated former mansion. Our room, which had two twin beds, proved to be perfect for sharing with my 16-year-old granddaughter on our delightful holiday adventure together. Such a charming place to stay on this very special island of lovely cafe-lined and also secluded beaches, cooking classes with Costas's wife, excellent jewelry and dress shopping, and even a surprise dance festival in the town square.
