I attended this venue with friends for something to eat and a few drinks. Soon after, I learned it was also the venue for Reform meeting which is inappropriate. Apart from being overpriced the food was not great and after recent developments, I will never go again . Fortunately, Epping has loads of other venues where you are less likely to be surrounded by racists..

Very quirky hotel , and fantastic restaurant with live music and dj We stayed for two nights and could of stayed longer The decor is unique and colourful, the bed was so comfy and the staff extremely friendly with a lovely welcoming drink on arrival Mira and Alban could not do enough for us Would truly recommend for a great break Ps we will return

Booking system terrible given a bar table and not a restaurant table after several confirmations, so missed out on the entertainment we specifically booked for. We get offered a free drink to make up for the mess up but the whole night we receive nothing but terrible service having to ask several people for our food and drinks. Granted the host felt bad and was trying to do what she could and the food was nice as they have improved their menu. But overall a really bad experience and sad we missed out on the entertainment as it looked fun.

We stayed last Friday and Saturday nights. Our rooms were in effect above a nightclub that didn’t stop till 12.40 am on Saturday morning and 1am on Sunday morning. I have a video of the cups vibrating in their saucers due to bass beat shaking the floor. The hotel did say they had ‘live’ music till midnight on both nights but this was not live music by any definition it was a club and it went on way beyond midnight. I asked for money off my bill on departure and was told a manager would call me. I said I would hold off on this review until today but would post if not contacted. No one called. They clearly are not customer focused and need to decide if they are a hotel or a club at weekends! It’s the lack of honesty that really gets us as if they had told the truth we would not have stayed. So be aware.

I don't normally write reviews but feel people need to know how overpriced and rude the management are, firstly it is so loud and overcrowded, secondly the wait time for food is ridiculous over an hour between courses, thirdly the prices are ridiculous as the food was shocking, my hot starter was stone cold and inedible the main was undercooked and missing the veg! Didn't bother with desert, and lastly the way the young waitresses were being spoken too by the management was awful i even see one of them push a young girl! Absolutely awful the only positive was the live singer will not be returning!!

I visited the Funky Monk hotel with my family We booked two deluxe rooms for the night - rooms 6 and 9 Room 6 is a much smaller room Very comfortable bed and nice furnishings. The room reminds you of Hollywood glamour with smoked mirrors and velvet chairs. There was a coffee maker but no kettle nor tea bags. Small functional shower room with large fluffy white towels Large shower head gave a good spray. The staff are exceptional and friendly They gave us a very warm welcome with free glasses of Prosecco We ate dinner and breakfast - both well cooked and presented. There was live entertainment with a singer who sang all the hits of the 80s, 90s and 2000s. It was a lovely stay and hope to return We parked our van in their private parking at the back of the hotel which cost us £15.00
