The Old School Enfield

We stayed a night with Blanch and Craig while we completed the Alps 2 Ocean cycle, and it was wonderful - they were welcoming, friendly and attentive hosts, and the accommodation was gorgeous, beautifully renovated; warm, clean and comfortable; historically very interesting with great respect paid to the history of the building as a school; excellent food; luxurious bathroom products and great strong hot showers; huge and comfortable beds; a complimentary glass of wine and cheese platter ... every detail had been carefully considered and they all added up to a fabulous stay that we will remember forever. Highly recommended!

This place is the best place to stay when doing the A20. Accommodation is excellent Rooms are very spacious, Comfy beds, Suitcases in our rooms on arrival and bikes taken care of. Hosts are the best!

Having completed a trying day on the A2O trail and to arrive to such a warm welcome at the Old School was comforting Beautiful big rooms very well appointed and immaculately clean The hosts - Blanche and Chris cannot be faulted for their hospitality 10/10

What a charming way to end the A2O! A restored school house full of lovely details and wonderful hosts. Spacious, comfortable rooms with brand new bathrooms, spotlessly clean. A fun evening meal at the local pub and a delicious breakfast to send us on our way. Thank goodness for people like Blanche and Craig, who were willing to take on the big task of restoring this lovely building. They offer an unique and welcoming experience. Utterly decent, hard working hosts who make these cycle trips memorable.

6 stars to Craig and Blanche, 10 of us rode in last night, tired after 300kms. Our hosts were awesome, nibbles, drinks, whatever we needed they were forthcoming with. Blanche cooked us a beautiful meal, we rolled into our beautifully appointed rooms well fed and watered (so to speak). All of us would highly recommend, in fact we could have easily stayed a second night, but out we rolled today for our final few kms of the A2O.

Doing Alps2Ocean trail our gang of 8 were welcomed by Blanche and Craig. The final night before the last 15kms to Oamaru in the morning, they could not be more accommodating with great breakfast and transferring our luggage to the Cycle Journeys depot. Highly recommend this beautiful accommodation with the lovely owners.

Staying at The Old School Enfield was a highlight of our Alps to Ocean adventure. Blanch and Craig are brilliant hosts. Their home is completely stunning and they could not have looked after us any better.

This place is phenomenal- what a treat!! Stayed as part of the Alps to Ocean ride and so worth the stop!! Blanche and Craig were amazing hosts and the rooms etc were first class - didn’t want to leave!! Had a swim, few beers, great meal at the pub, and a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Definitely a return visit is in the plans.

Our last stop on the Alps to Ocean bike ride. This restored and converted old school house was our most memorable lodging on the trip although it could not compete with the views from Braemar Station. The rooms were spacious with excellent bath and shower. Our hosts who were also our cooks were friendly and professional and the food was great. Seeing the old school saved and restored was an added bonus. If I was in the area I would go out of my way to stay there again.
