Great hotel in El Calafate. Walking distance to the main boulevard but on a quiet street. Feels like a European Ski Chalet. Our room was clean and bright, and the reception staff were incredibly helpful. Special mention to Daniel who helped us with our Tours, thank you! Lovely Spa and heated Swimming pool which was a welcome reprieve after a very cold and windy tour of the glaciers. Would highly receommend.
Room is nice and good size. Has sufficient space for 2. Breakfast is a nice spread, although it is exactly the sane everyday. Hotel has sauna, gym and massage services (cheaper than street prices for tourists).
Location is super convenient, easy walk to town for food and shopping. Also very near to the free shuttle to the Glaciaruim.
We stayed at the Boutique Hotel La Cantera in El Calafate for 3-nights in mid-Oct, two nights while visiting the Perito Morena Glacier and one night after returning from a visit to Ushuaia and before taking the bus to Chile ($120 US/night). The hotel is on a hill 5-blocks above main street (with all of the restaurants, shops), so a car is an asset; however, for those without, they offer an evening shuttle with a local taxi for less than $1. Plenty of free parking is available. The hotel is in two buildings, each on its own terrace. Our superior doubles were on the upper terrace in the building with reception and the restaurant. Both were spacious, although one had a large entry area and more plush furnishings. There was a king bed with side tables, an open cabinet for clothes, safe, mini-refrigerator, TV, and two chairs and a table by the window with a view of the lake over the front building. It was fronted by a terrace with some lawn furniture that was accessible by going through the lobby or simply stepping out over the low-silled window. We didn't use it, though, because of the howling, cold wind at this time of year. The room was heated by a sub-floor system with no controller in the room; we found it too warm, so had to prop the window open at night. Breakfast was good, with a choice of eggs, fresh-squeezed orange juice, mimosas, and the regular ham, cheese, and baked items. The staff were friendly and helpful. They stored a bag for us while we were on our excursion to Ushuaia, and were helpful in arranging a taxi to get us to our 8 am bus to Chile. A pleasant and comfortable boutique hotel.
A very pretty well designed hotel in a good location, but the interior needs a little updating. The carpets in the main areas are threadbare ! Lasagne in the restaurant was so dry we sent it back, but other dishes were OK. Our room was clean and comfortable with lovely views over the lake and the hotel is a short walk from the main shopping and restaurant area.
Comfortable, well located hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. Free secure parking, small gym and spa which is nice but only open 4 hours each day (the single drawback to this hotel). A good choice for travelers in El Calafate, recommended.
Centrally located. Within walking distance to downtown street. Tour buse to El Chalten and Perito Merino stopped by the hotel to pick us up. Very friendly front desk lady/owner, Sue Won, originally from Korea. Her brother came to Argentina 50 years ago and owns other motels/properties. Shared some of her personal stories as well. Very nice. She spoke decent English. Difficult to find English speaking people in Argentina. Sue was very helpful and made our stay very homely. Gave us some good tips on currency conversion which is a big mess in Argentina with the exchange rates…..

The hotel is very used and in need of maintenance and an upgrade. The rooms are old-fashioned and the doors are paper thin, so lots of noise from the hallway. The breakfast is very basic. You can order a lunch box where they have different choices. They were very good. Would recommend a hotel in the downtown area if you want to be closer to restaurants and shops.

The cleaning ladies were polite and keep the place in a decent shape, but the hotel doesn't make you feel very welcome. Reception is matter of fact, breakfast is decent but serving rather stingy portions - you need to make effort to get a decent serving of scrambled eggs for example. As such, the hotel is rather overpriced for what you get. As a traveler and guest I'd prefer to be left out of politics. However, the hotel's prominent support through its window display for Israel (flag + sign reading ”we stand by Israel”), that so far has murdered over 30.000 civilians (70% women and children), made my stay rather uncomfortable. Knowing it's a rather ”polemic” political topic that perhaps has no place on tripadvisor, considering that it was the hotel's decision to take a clear public political stance, I also feel that it is helpful to share here for those travellers who wish to take an informed and conscious decision on whether to stay here. I certainly would have wanted to know before booking online.
訪訪客Off course opinions vary, I know. Our expirience was not that great. On the positive side, rates are interesting compared to other ho(s)tels. Laundry service is nice. But that's pretty much it. The expression 'when you pay peanuts, you get...' exists for a reason. That everything is basic comes with a cheap hostel. But some things are a bit too basic, like for instance the matrass. Isolation is literally zero, aspecially when you are sleeping roadside. Earplugs is a must, and even then you have to be lucky to get some sleep. Enough people will call the breakfast simple but sufficient, or something like that. But it's hard to call slices of bread to toast and orange parts sufficient. And to conclude with; I guess you could say staff is friendly, but apart from that pretty incompetent.
Hotel fica longe do centro. Tem transfer só até 19:30, o que e bem cedo no verão que anoitece depois das 10 da noite . A limpeza do quarto foi o ponto forte. No hotel faltam funcionários , principalmente no café da manhã que só repõe quando solicitado com muito esforço.
