吉爾多南住宿飯店(Kildonan Lodge Hotel)

The best things about this so called 4 star hotel is the free parking & location, being right next to a bus stop. Free breakfast as stated on TripAdvisor is not the case. We stayed in room 5 which is probably the worst room I've ever stayed in. The decor is tired & shabby with black mould & peeling wallpaper in places. Avoid.

Kildonan Lodge Hotel was a fabulous place to stay for our one night in Edinburgh. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The honesty bar is a brilliant idea! This Lodge is on a bus route which goes directly into the city, so really easy to commute. And there was on-site parking for us. A big bonus. Breakfast (included in the tarrif) was amazing! Best omelette!! Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Horrible service. The front desk lady was so rude and told it was our fault for them not having sheets on our bed. Not sure why this is rated so highly. The bedding was dirty, they didn't even put sheets on the bed, my partner didn't fit on the bed, and the pillows were so hard and big that we couldn't even use them. Also for some reason the bed made us very itchy. Maybe due to the clean bedding or maybe there is a lot of dust built up in the mattress. Shampoo and conditioner were also not included. Idk for the price and location along with these factors I think this place is definitely overhyped. Wouldn't recommend. Although the interior does look cool.

une halte a faire . charmant hôtel. tel que je me l'imaginais un vrai cocon. chambre spacieuse et confortable petites attentions thé café biscuits et du cherry... nous avons été accueillis par une personne charmante très disponible. il nous a très bien aiguillé pour notre visite d’Édimbourg. et le plus ligne directe de bus pour le centre ville (10mn) et parking gratuit derrière l’hôtel . je vous le recommande.

Dit was onze laatste verblijf tijdens onze 2 weken durende rondreis door Schotland. De locatie van t hotel was prima met de bus die heel vaak voor de deur stopte zodat je binnen no time in het centrum was. Het ontbijt was prima maar niet heel bijzonder. Wat heel goed was, is dat je de avond van tevoren je ontbijt wensen moest doorgeven. Op deze manier wordt voedsel verspilling tegengegaan. Kamer viel tegen. Wij sliepen in het bijgebouw aan de achterkant en het was wel lekker rustig. Er is daar wel sprake van achterstallig onderhoud. De vloerbedekking en stoelen zaten onder de vlekken en voelden daardoor smoezelig aan. Dit geldt ook voor de gezamenlijke ruimtes daar. Alles was wel goed schoongemaakt (bed en badkamer etc) behalve dat er schimmel op het douchegordijn zat. Dit hebben we ook bij het uitchecken gemeld. Misschien dat hier gelijk wat aan was gedaan als we dit eerder hadden aangegeven, maar ik mag hopen dat er op dit soort onderhoud goed wordt gelet.

Pequeño establecimiento ubicado a 2,5 km del centro de Edimburgo, pero que cuenta con varios autobuses, con buena frecuencia, que le llevarán y traerán casi hasta la misma puerta. Solicité explícitamente una habitación twin, con dos camas. Me pusieron en el edificio anexo, en la parte trasera del hotel. No me gustan los anexos, pero, estaba muy cercano al edificio principal. La habitación era con una cama doble, Queen, y en un rincón, una pieza individual, una triple para matrimonio con hij@ disfrazada de twin. Eso no es lo contratado ni solicitado. Una persona dormía en cama grande y otra en pequeña. De haberlo sabido, no hubiera ido al hotel. Por lo demás habitación con carencias, para la categoría de 4* como falta de AA.CC. y minibar, y con algunos problemas en la cisterna del baño. Agua, sherry y tés de cortesía, eso sí. El desayuno, a la carta, muy, muy malo. Ni siquiera el café y los croissants, se salvaban. En el anexo, me pareció que vivían los propietarios, pero no socializaban. El personal, amable, pero bajo mi punto de vista inexperto. El primer día tuvimos que pedir dos veces las toallas. Después, este tema se subsanó. Olor a humedad en la habitación. Una mansión imponente, a la que no se le saca partido, por mantenimiento y servicios, de todo lo que puede dar.

Got upgraded to a double four poster room, which was a surprise on first impressions room was lovely ,small, but on further inspection the bathroom was really tired, ceiling peeling and stained, box on top of toilet came off, think to allow access to cistern , breakfast was mediocre the porridge was awful, Croissant was nice with chocolate spread, oj was nice, the staff were perfect, but just a few bits to work on, needs updating felt tired, for the money it wasn’t worth it there’s a hundred better places to stay for that money sorry 😞 x

We stayed in the Lodge for one night, we had a wonderful room, great bed and use of the lounge downstairs. We arrived at lunch time, we were able to leave our car and jump on the bus and we returned in the evening. Staff are so very helpful and could not do enough for you. Breakfast your asked to do the night before and was 1st class and the best Breakfast we have had on a 6 day trip. The hotel is 1st class and would so stay here again..

Das Hotel macht optisch Einiges her, ein toller, typisch britischer Eingangsbereich, auch der Aufenthaltsraum und der Frühstücksraum sind top. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im unteren Geschoss, mit Blick auf den Parkplatz. Das Zimmer wirkt ältlich, der Teppich hatte einige Flecken, und sowohl rund um das Fenster, das (wie bei vielen Häusern aus der Zeit in der Vorstadt von Edinburgh) schlecht isoliert war, sowie im Bad gab es in einigen Ecken erste Schimmelspuren. Wir haben uns nicht ganz wohl gefühlt, auch wenn das Personal sehr nett und das Frühstück auch ganz gut waren.
