Recently stayed at this fabulous pub. We had fabulous experience. The owner Emma and her staff were simply brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff and other guests, locals could not have been more friendly. The food was exquisite. The evening meal and breakfast was not only good value for money but was fantastic. We were so impressed we are returning in two weeks time. If you are looking for a country pub with character, nice rooms, lovely food and staff that are prepared to go the extra mile then this is the place to visit.

Single night stay, but will certainly revisit. Room small but clean and comfortable. All food excellent. All staff were brilliant. Friendly and helpful. Located on a busy road, but the village is a delight to explore. Recommend a walk to the village church. Only the second village we have visited that had no street lighting. Nothing to spoil the feel of an earlier age.

Stayed for one night whilst passing through the area and I think I was the only guest at the hotel The dining area is presentable and clean and at breakfast I must mention the receptionist Millie , who was welcoming and helpful. However the bedrooms, or at least mine, let it down quite badly. Access upstairs is via a narrow staircase which is totally unsuitable for anyone who is disabled. The bedroom was OK and the bed quite comfy but the shower was pretty basic and the soap dispenser had not been filled. As I had no toiletries with me I had to manage without. The shower/bathroom is in dire need of an extractor fan to get rid of the moisture. Finally , the TV in the bedroom looked old and cheap, was unbranded and it had a poor picture. it is a pity about the standards, as the hotel is located in a pretty area.

Receptionist was very polite. Food was very good. Rooms complete opposites. Am in 20-30 hotels a year. That was the second worst I‘ve ever been. Very dirty and unkempt. Milliliter thick dust, in every corner spider cobwebs, 4 big spiders in the room, nothing clean and shine, soiled mattress, dirty beddings and hairs.. Carpet very dirty. Guess they have no hoover. Last cleaning months ago. No water pressure in the shower. In the morning around 7 restaurant was closed. No Chance to get a morning coffee. room: -5 stars Restaurant: +5 Service: 2 Will never go there again and will nobody give a recommendation for it

Felt this place is just hanging on by its fingertips. We didn’t see anyone else in the bar all evening and there were only two other diners. The food was fine and the one barman / waiter on duty was friendly and helpful. There was no breakfast available so we had to drive about three miles to the sister pub in another village, where the one staff member seemed surprised to see us. Our room was clean, if a bit tired. The landing and stairway looked like they hadn’t been hoovered for many weeks. Traffic noise all night from thundering main road a few yards away. We’ll probably stay somewhere else if in area again.
