Quiet but close to the action if you wanted it went on a horse tour and got to see the wild horses. Was completely worth it

We have been coming to this timeshare on and off for years as an owner. I have many happy memories of bringing my children here. It has never been a 5 star resort, maybe not even a 4. However, every year I was hopeful that they were going to upgrade the property. To call it a resort is misnomer. The property has sadly gone down hill in the last two years. They are not even maintaining it much less upgrading the property. The pool needs upgrading. There are holes in the concrete deck around the pool, one hole even had a cone on top of it. The tennis court has weeds growing out of it, and looks like a scene from abandoned properties. The recreation room by the beach does not look inviting at all. It looks like it has not changed since the 80s. The units inside need new toilets, new deck furniture, and new furniture. The deck furniture was cracked and cheap. inside furniture was stained as well as the carpet. The townhouse had a musty smell. The front door was dirty and covered with bugs. One of the shower heads had tuck tape on it. When I complained I received the same song and dance: “we are short staffed” The staff they have is not enough to maintain the property much less upgrade it. It breaks my heart that such a beautiful location is continuously going downhill. I am sad. This property has so much potential.

The staff here are so nice, I had an opportunity to meet the new general manager Mike who addresses all my concerns and questions. He said they have plans in place to revamp the pool and tennis court. The views where amazing and they all where hard at work trying to improve the property. Thank you for an amazing stay.

We exchanged our week for this location and arrived on a Saturday around 5PM. Check-in was great and staff was friendly. However - once we opened the door to our unit we were immediately underwhelmed with the accommodations. Unfortunately we checked out Monday morning because we were so unhappy.

When we arrived here on Saturday June 8, we found, huge closets with out a single hanger, the kitchen sink drain all rusted, the vent of the microwave fell off the first time we opened the door, the handle on the deck door was so rusted we were trapped outside for close to an hour, multiple cockroaches (resort manager said they were aware of the bugs and would we mind the exterminator coming into our unit this week) and although we were ok with no outside pool, there were 3-4 chairs only at the indoor pool for a resort that must accommodate at least 25-50 families. Should not be made available through RCI. Hope this review reaches more than a few families and no one books into here again.

We had a lovely week at Ocean Pines. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our needs were meant almost immediately. The beach was steps away from the unit. The resort was on the major bike path on the Outer Banks and centrally located but in a quiet neighborhood. The unit had a lot of storage for clothes, groceries, games. Really just about anything. There was a bike rack right outside the unit. The beds were comfortable and the shower was wonderful. The pool was clean and we were able to swim laps! All in all we had a terrific time and would definitely stay here again. Hint: We booked a tour to see the wild horses and all we saw was one. The guide said that the weather was against us. So if the weather is cold and windy, don’t waste your money on a tour of the wild horses.
