I was honestly disappointed about the Douala Starland Hotel and its quality, especially in comparison to the excellent quality of Starland Yaoundé. While arriving in the room , I wanted to take a shower, but the shower head holder was broken and fell on my head hitting me badly. This is certainly nothing new and the cleaning team must have already seen it when they cleaned the room. I therefore cannot understand why the room has been given to a guest. The same is true for the hairdryer which was not functional. Unfortunately, the entire hotel does not have one hair dryer as a backup plan which is not in a wall. If you had one normal hairdryer for a plug, we could have easily had a solution. I was then moved to another room. While moving, I realized that there were no shower gels or shampoo, I guess they may have been forgotten… Overall, if you know the rooms in Yaoundé, you will be seriously disappointed by Douala. The hotel is old and does not give you the same nice feeling than Yaoundé. For the price and comparing it to other hotels in the same price range - such as K hotel - the rooms are overpriced, too small and disappointing. My worse experience however concerns your kitchen and services. While the quality of our conference`s lunch was really excellent and tasted great, I was really disappointed about the breakfast and the room service. Concerning the room service, I ordered a 12.000 Mozzarella salad to my room. The amount of salad that arrived was ridiculously small. Half of a mozzarella on a tiny little number of veggies and salad. I counted three (!) salad leaves in total. I understand that mozzarella and veggies are expensive in this country, but you could have at least given a proper number of green leaves. The salad was like an insult and charging 12.000 for this is really ridiculous. For 12000, one excepts a salad that could feed. Otherwise, you would really have to reduce the price. I had a similar experience at breakfast. Unfortunately, there were a couple of flies all over the buffet. (I appreciate that on the second day, you put candles to avoid that). I don`t like the warm food provided there so I asked if I could have some freshly made Crepes. I was told that I could only have the Crepes that were already lying next to the Bread. However, I tasted them, and these were cold and not fresh – the whole idea of a good Crepe is that it is freshly made and warm. I appreciate that the kitchen in Yaoundé does them freshly. I asked the lady who makes eggs if she could do me a fresh one, but she refused – even though there were no other clients and I saw that the kitchen had the batter to make them freshly. However, she refused and preferred to watch videos on her phone… This is really disappointing. Unfortunately, the fruit salad in the little glasses was also not fresh, several fruit were bitter. In addition, I was really disappointed about the slowliness of the reception during our conference. I asked the reception to print
