The most wonderful position, however that is it….The rooms are very tired, tatty, and in need of a thorough refurbishment. The room I was allocated had the most awful smell, something had clearly come to an unfortunate end, and was gradually decomposing somewhere and to compound this only one of the windows opened as the others had been sealed. A hotel charging an extremely full price and delivering a distinctive sub par performance….Avoid.

Royal Golf Hotel is only a few steps down to the golf course and close to Dornoch town centre. Friendly and attentive staff, very good restaurant and comfortable lounge/bar area. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Arrived for Sunday lunch last week, stressed because of an email hitch and a forgotten password at home. Angela, the receptionist , said, Leave it to me, go and enjoy your lunch. When we were finished our(first class) lunch, Angela was ready having sorted our online problem and printed off the hotel booking we required. She refused to take a tip saying it was all part of the service. Thanks also to Jane ,quietly efficient and friendly. The whole experience a delight. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of delicious food and served in a dining area overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course. The staff were very efficient and friendly . The only difficulty I had was opening the traditional sash windows in the bedroom.

This hotel is beautiful with stunning views from the restaurant. The bedroom was very large and comfortable with tea, coffee and bottles of water provided. It is easy to walk into the centre of Dornoch from this hotel. The dinner was good although the Tofu starter needed more dressing.

Well located for trips round the far north of Scotland. A good albeit pricy restaurant, a very good bar and lounge, and excellent personable staff. The hotel boiler broke down, and the hotel gave a 20% discount in response to this crisis

Room was not clean, had broken blinds and bottle of water in the room was open - cold water in the morning for a shower

Ross suite is a lovely large room with great views and comfy bed, bathroom is large too with lovely big bath but needs a makeover. All staff welcoming and helpful, breakfast good quality and plenty of options. Restaurant /breakfast main room has great views, marred slightly by stained water damaged window sills. Restaurant menu limited dinner options and expensive.

4 days of golf, close to several fantastic courses. Superb apar**ents, clean, fully equipped, nicely decorated. Plenty of room for two couples. Definitely stay again next year!
