Chapter 1 Hotels

Located opposite the Kings Statue & a stone’s throw from Wetherspoons William Harvey pub, Chapter 1 lends itself to Instergrammable photography. Each of the rooms is named after a novel & the bookish theme pervades through the establishment in actually a rather nice way. Gone are the wonderful two statuesque plants either side of the front door, but nevertheless one is greeted by Steve who manages a rather nice hotel. Well decorated, comfortable and welcoming, the interior is appointed with a number of interesting talking pieces of art, books & assorted knick-knacks. Steve is very helpful in making suggestions on the locality & is well worth engaging & seeking out advice. Continental breakfast (served on a Sunday from 9am) was delicious & the coffee good. Our room had air conditioning & Steve helped us up the stairs (there’s no lift) with our bags & showed us how it worked. The pub and town went quiet around 11pm & we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. For high quality dining in the town, booking is essential. We ate at Halls Kitchen - good with generous portions. I would have liked to try Les Enfants Terribles but they were booked solid. There is parking 2 block away from the sea front at the Park Street car park & one can unload bags from a car, if necessary, a few yards away from the front entrance of the hotel. Steve very much made & enhanced our visit and it’s refreshing to find someone who is happy to proffer a personal touch in a world of sterile hotel offerings.

Stephen, proprietor of Chapter 1 Hotels, creates a lodging experience filled with fine details that we appreciated. From the Paris Library to rooms named for great works of literature he executes his literary theme flawlessly with clear intent to satisfy guests. Our room named, Great Expectations exceed ours and capped off a lovely day in Weymouth.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Right next to the shops and next to the beach and sea. The owners are so helpful and make you feel so welcome. Each room is named after a book. We stayed in ‘80 Days around the World’. Steve (the owner) let us know the room we booked was small, we didn’t find that to be a problem as it was beautiful, clean and homely. We will 100% be returning, and if you are thinking about it or looking for a hotel, CHOOSE THIS ONE!!

King deluxe room is spacious, well presented, clean and tidy. The ensuite again is spacious and immaculate. The host is very pleasant and accommodating with a no rush feel to the stay. Second time of staying here and definitely will be back

This is a lovely place. I really cannot fault it. It has the advantage of extensive views over the bay, and the great touch was the bar stools so that you could sit at the window and watch the yacht race. The decor is really thought through, and the beds and towels are real quality. Steve is terrific. Breakfast was great. It is perfect, really. I haven't felt more positive about a place in years.

What a gorgeous and amazing place. Steve is the most amazing and accommodating host and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are trendy and absolutely spotless. Location is perfect and within walking distance to restaurants and attractions and parking just a couple mins walk away. If ever in Weymouth I would absolutely stay again. Thank you Steve!

We’re do I start ? Been going to Weymouth for years and stayed in quite a few hotels there .. hoping to find a top quality place .. now we have found it !! Fantastic location as less than a minute from the beach . 2 mins from harbour / pubs / restaurants all within minutes .. Steve the owner is a lovely chap always there to help and advice on we’re to eat etc .. the hotel itself is lovely the decor beautiful , room itself was spacious with 2 seater settee and a nice large bed which was very comfy .. brekky was cereals / ham cheese / fruit and pastries which was a lovely change to the greasy fry up !! Made a nice change .. Thanku Steve for your warm welcome and we will be seeing you again soon .. top man 👍👍👍
