Perfect for what we needed. Definitely will be staying again in the future

About 20 minute walk from station. Welcoming staff, and clean and effective room etc.. Would not take cash for an 8pm bar food and drink order, so I shall not be staying again, however.

Second overnight stay at this great hotel. Perfect place to crash after a day at the races and a night on the town. Great breakfast also.

The staff were so good on reception. Very friendly and helpful. I feel like the hotel could be elevated if it got rid of some of the tacky Art Deco bits e.g revolving mannequin woman in the lobby to make it more sleek Art Deco fitting with a 4 star hotel. A bit of attention to detail needed in the room, the plug socket in the room with the hair dryer plugged in didn’t reach the one mirror in the room which isn’t ideal when trying to get ready. Also seemed charging usb plugs by bed didn’t work. A few small changes could make the rooms a lot more practical.

The interior is Art Deco and very nice. My room was clean and comfortable. If I had one complaint it would be the menu for a 4* hotel. I booked a table but was disappointed to find pizza, lasagna, pie ,hunter’s chicken more your pub food menu than a 4 * hotel. Breakfast was good plenty of choices

Amazing friendly helpful staff. Spotless housekeeping. Free parking, which is locked overnight. Two teeny things which let it down a tad - cooked breakfast was quite a bit overdone, and the barman the night before was not exactly welcoming, nor anywhere near as congenial as all the other staff we met. We ate at local Italian across the road, which I highly recommend.

So, the good bits. Easy to find, easy parking, easy check in, big rooms, big bed, good shower and nice White Company shampoo, shower gel etc. Some staff members genuinely trying to make a positive difference, and the hotel has plenty of potential. The bad bits - the room was really dusty with lots of cobwebs around the tops of the units. Big rip in the duvet cover and the surface of the headboard was flaking off. Only one set of towels in the bathroom. The wifi router was on the wall in the room, and made the room like a blue themed disco once we turned the lights off, I unplugged it, sorry if this inconvenienced anyone. The windows didn't open which made us reliant on the (very noisy) air conditioner. Some of the staff completely disinterested. The ugly - very disappointed with the meal we had in the concerto restaurant. Given the (almost London) prices, expect a lot more than onion rings and cod soggily fried from frozen, inedible chicken liver pate, stale bread, undercooked chips and tough steak. Nice mushy peas. With some of these things, we could have spoken to reception and had them rectified. The truth is, we shouldn't have to, and nor did we want to after a day spent in the car. C-, could do better.

Very smart hotel. I found it extremely comfortable. The room was quiet and well appointed. Excellent shower and bathtub. Really good breakfast. Thorough recommend

Staff were fabulous in the evening and breakfast, wonderful place to stay for visiting Yorkshire wildlife Park and ice skating at the dome
