Hotel immerso nella campagna inglese ma comodo per gli spostamenti sulla A30. Il gestore è molto accogliente e simpatico, ci si sente come a casa. Ristorante eccellente e colazione ottima, camere molto pulite e comode. La struttura è in un edificio storico perfettamente conservato e mantenuto, i letti sono molto comodi. Peccato essersi fermati così poco, sarebbe bello tornare per un periodo più lungo e scoprire il parco Dartmoor Perfetto per qualche giorno di relax e per sentirsi realmente immersi nella vera atmosfera della campagna inglese

We live in the village, and thought we would go for a drink, the doors was open, lights were on, walked in, no one there the first time. the barmen decided to turn up and then said we are not open once we said sorry why is your door open? he replied with nothing. once open he served us. then tonight we walked in when it was meant to be open, door again was open, walked in, a group of people was there then at 5:45pm the people behind the bar said we are closed? sorry but these past landlady/guy. were terrible. i hear a rumour they are leaving. thank god! hopefully the new people who take over are alot more welcoming. these were terrible. a massive zero.

A brilliant hotel. A really pleasant location, and a very picturesque building. We stayed for one night in August. The room was very nice, not modern, but definitely in keeping with the hotel itself. Very comfortable bed, and a nice, clean bathroom. We had dinner at the hotel, and a varied menu was available. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. The staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu was not as expansive as some hotels, but the full English was of a very high quality. We had a great stay, and will definitely return.

We’ve just stayed at this lovely old hotel for one night on our way to Cornwall. On booking we worried we wouldn’t arrive before closing but were assured a key would be left. Extremely friendly staff. Clean room with all you need and the most delicious breakfast. We will definitely be returning.

Brilliant experience, excellent value and exactly what we were looking for. The most dog friendly place we've ever stayed at, the staff were brilliant, accommodation topnotch and breakfast really done well. We stayed for two nights supporting the Ten Tors event and will definitely come again if the opportunity arises.

We stayed at The Fox and Hounds in September 2023. Booked via a popular booking site, we paid £75 for B&B for 1 night, double room with shared bathroom. Upon arrival we parked up in the car park next to the pub. Plenty of spaces available. Warm welcome by the landlord as we entered and were checked in quickly and efficiently. A warning about low beams was given (it’s a very old property!) and we found our way to the room up some narrow stairs (and the low beam). Room was pretty small but functional, with a double bed, wardrobe and kettle. Tea and coffee but no decaf or biscuits. Turned on the tiny TV and no channels picked up, even with retune. Mentioned this to the landlord but he didn’t seem too concerned. Also the WiFi code provided didn’t work and with very little mobile signal it was difficult to keep in touch with family. The shared bathroom was functional but very dated too. On a positive note, we went down to the bar for food and drink. Drinks were very reasonably priced and food was delicious, served quickly and efficiently. Breakfast the next morning was also well presented, with different size portions available to suit appetites. Check out was quick and easy too, everything paid in advance. We left with mixed feelings. Great food but let down by tired room and a lack of care for the facilities. If you’re looking for a simple accommodation on Dartmoor then this hotel is great, but if wanting more comforts then maybe look to pay a little more at an alternative venue.
