Ich war Ede Juli 2024 mit Freunden hier, es ist mein must have für mich, wenn ich in Schottland unterwegs bin. Freundlicher Empfang, schöne, saubere, renovierte Zimmer, leckeres Essen und eine gemütliche Whisky Bar. Im Herzen des Speytals gelegen ein schöner Ausgangspunkt füt Touren. Werde gerne wiederkommen.

We were very tired and hungry after a long journey and were happy that they could accommodate us for a table. I soon saw why; the place is very tired and dated, in great need of a revamp! I struggled to find something on the limited menu, but settled for steak & ale pie. It didn’t hit the spot, the gravy/sauce was quite sickly, almost barbecue like in flavour. The dessert was a total disaster! We were so happy to see our Scottish favourite “cranachan” on the dessert menu and the staff member was happy to take our order as, it was the chef’s first attempt in making it! Strange, for a Scottish bar/restaurant! It was basically a mix of sweet, liquid cream or evaporated milk, mixed with oats at topped with 3 raspberries; totally inedible! That said, The staff were very friendly and created a very warm atmosphere; such a shame it was let down in other areas.

We cycled here after checking the website that said they started doing food from 5:30pm on a first come first basis. Brilliant, I can be first to that! We cycled there and arrived about 5:15, plenty of tables free, definitely onto a winner. I ordered 2 pints and casually said "you start serving at 5:30 don't you?" He replied, "sorry we are fully booked!" I pointed out that they don't take bookings which is the reason we cycled here... He said we do for large groups. Very much sounds like they do take bookings as if more evidence was needed we sat next to a table of 3 that booked a table and got fed. Weird, 3 for a large booking doesn't seem that large to me, we were a 2, obviously a small booking. So we sat at one of the many "unavailable" tables with cutlery set up on it. Then a waitress came over and told us the table was booked and we could only sit there for the next 2 hours... Yes 2 hours, 2 hours we could have quite happily eaten in and left before the next, presumably, large booking came in. Anyway watched our neighbours of 3 eat the left to a friendly bar that the road that turned a rubbish evening into a good one. Avoid this den of lies.

Stayed in Craigellachie for a long weekend and enjoyed visiting this gem of a place every day. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, drinks too. If you enjoy a dram there is plenty choice, the staff were all friendly, helpful and made you feel at home.

I was working away from home at the Glenrothes Distillery and was struggling to find a place as this was the busy season and all the hotels I usually use up there were full. Phoned in to enquire and was told, we’re pretty busy but let’s see if I can mibbe shuffle things around, well he did and sorted me out for my three nights stay. So glad he did, gem of a place, big room and en-suite, great breakfast and evening meals, staff extremely friendly and polite also, in the bar, selection of whiskies impressive and also the staff’s knowledge of all the whiskies, Guinness at £4.40 a pint?? I was paying £6.40 in the Station Hotel, Rothes the week before. Was reluctant to leave in the end but had to. Also was kinda reluctant to leave a good review as I was selfish and not wanting this gem of a place to be unavailable next time I’m up there. Sleep no problem as very quiet.

We popped in for dinner one evening. The place was really busy, but it was a nice evening & the staff allowed us to sit out back. The specials, scampi n chips was lovely as was the cajun chicken burger. Really friendly staff too. Defo will return.

This was a great find on our trip though the Highlands and we greatly enjoyed staying here. 2 Senior Sisters travelling together were welcomed in to the restaurant/ bar on the lower level as we wanted to try a whisky flight to sample whisky from the area.The bartender was most accomodating and took the time to help us select our 8 choices! And what a selection they have!! Food served in the bar on on the outside patio was delicious. A delicious hot breakfast made to roder was served in the first floor dining room. Our room with comfortable beds was large and so was the bathroom. Staff was great in helping us upstairs with our luggage. You won't be disappointed if you choose the Highlander Inn.We should have allowed another day or 2 in the Speyside region. Don't miss reserving a tour of the nearby Speyside Cooperage.

On occasion I stop here for dinner and drinks when I'm working in the area touring. The atmosphere is great and it's run by fantastic people. Delicious food and the whisky selection is fabulous too 😋🥃!! A huge collection of Japanese whisky too 😎
