The service was not great for an expensive luxury resort

Unfortunately for the cost of this staycation I was not very impressed. Check in is rather late at 4pm. They have a restaurant on site which they claim closes at 5pm but if you’re not there by 3.30pm you can forget it. Nobody informs of this we found out the hard way. Every restaurant in the area has dinner service from 6pm. In such a small place with literally no options that’s quite poor for the resort not to provide any food from 3.30 till breakfast. Not even some biscuits to go with a cup of tea in your room not even a vending machine, or on site shop… nothing. So if you’re coming from far be prepared for that. Positives: The room was clean and tidy. Views from the balcony of the lake beautiful. Spa and massage were good. Will not be staying here again.

We had a long weekend in the hotel. Overall we had a nice enough stay but we were a bit perplexed by the place generally. It was like it was trying to be a posh centre parcs but missing crucial elements! The interiors were nicely done and the restaurant was pretty with a nice view of the lake. Breakfast was delicious and we had lovely massages. However the following points meant we felt it wasn't worth anywhere near what we paid: 1. Hotel room was not cleaned in the day. No big deal but would have been nice to have more water, clean cups etc and freshly made bed. For the price paid for the room we were very surprised this was not done. 2. No where to get snacks / light lunch. The only place to get food was the very expensive restaurant and that didn't have sandwiches/ cake etc. And not even biscuits in the room! 3. Dinner at the restaurant was not great for the price. Pardon peppers were so undercooked they were crunchy and veg in Thai curry was also not cooked and chicken chewy. 4. Breakfast was supposed to be included but this was apparently limited to £20 so we got a surprise bill at the end as some drinks had pushed us over 5. The jacuzzi was really cold. We really enjoyed our massages and the pool was lovely. We were lucky that all the children left the pool as we arrived. We asked for robes when we arrived and were told we had to get them after our massages. Very odd! So we had to get the ladies doing the massages to get them for us. 6. We rented bikes and enjoyed a little ride. Shame it was not possible to rent for a short time so had to pay for full day rental. We left the site through a gate but it was very unclear from the available maps where we could get back in! All the other gates we tried were for people only and no bikes could get through. A much clearer map is needed making it clear what is in the site boundary and how to get in and out!

The cabins are good, nicely decorated and quality furnished. However the bar and restaurant are extremely poor. The bar has very little to offer and missing some basic essentials while the food offering is very strange, breakfast is a choice of baps which was okay However we wanted dinner and were told the only option was pizza which was disappointing

The lakes are beautiful and our room was nicely decorated with drench shower and wildsmith toiletries We had dinner and breakfast in the main bar and restaurant which I have to say was extremely poor service, food was okay we had poached egg with avocado for breakfast and I pizza in the evening so can’t go far wrong. Breakfast service was okay from Ellie but the evening was chaotic which should be embarrassing as it wasn’t busy so no real reason for should a bad experience On checking out we were given lots of guff about change of ownership and a new manager is going to sort it out, on further discussion the new manager was the lady we were served by the night before who was disorganised and barking at the junior staff Overall for the money it isn’t worth it, we have stayed at Forest Holidays in their cabins and had a much better time so sadly we won’t bother returning. I have read the generic replies so please don’t bother with the trite apology asking me to get in touch, just sort out the catering and lower the prices

After recommended this place to friends and family we decided to visit again this being our 5th visit only to be disappointed with a huge drop in standards, firstly the cleaning standards were extremely poor hardly being able to see out of the dirty windows, the tables weren't cleaned properly, dust was on the backs of the seating the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in week ,the dress Code of the staff were in joggers and trainers although they were polite. It's such a shame to see a drop o In standards.
