Extremely slow and unaccommodating check in and out. Terrible dinner. Nice garden setting.

The property grounds and landscape is stunning and brings back the charm of English countryside. The lawns are full of all possible variety of flowers. The staff is friendly. The rooms are decent and well appointed. The food offering is not exceptional but fine for a short stay. The magic show was exciting for my young one. He enjoyed running after ducks and Chocolate. The morning excursion took us to some beautiful tea gardens. Only suggestion would be to make it more professional and well organised. The gradient and the path can be challenging for elderly, so a proper brief a night before could be introduced. Walking sticks and water bottles should be carried. Walking shoes should be mandatory. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Taj.

Gateway Coonoor is at an excellent location, and a comfortable distance from the Coonoor market. It is a heritage property with complete British Colonial architecture, and one of the coziest I have stayed at. The check in process, was smooth and personalized, and though we reached 2 hours before check in time, we were graciously accomodated. The property has huge expansive lawns with the 32 rooms of different categories spread over it making it a very quaint setting among the greens. The service is relaxed but has the signated TAJ hospitable DNA and scores highly because the whole staff is extremely attentive and polite. The gym is small, but it is a great workout to walk down to the market and come back up to the property, if you love to go on long walks. Plus amazing places to eat and shop within a 300m radius. Food is nice and decent, and the breakfast is a buffet, though they have an extensive menu for lunch dinner and in room dining. The rooms are big with spacious toilets and done up in the classic English style with high ceilings. Since the property is more than 100 years old, no 2 rooms would be exactly similar. Special mention to Kamesh, Even, Brito, Shailendra and Prakash, you all made the experience all the more better.

Very highly recommended. My last visit to this property was when it was known as the Taj Garden. The property continues to be charming and the maintenance of the rooms and the overall property is faultless. But what makes the hotel really special is the Team, Kamesh, Anand, Sumant, Kiran, Ambika, Theresa, Leona, the house keeping and facilities team members. We enjoyed a very informed discussion with Mr. Ramalingam on local cuisine and Kamesh very kindly spent time explain bits of the local culture and sights. Anand and Sumant went beyond in making my father comfortable.

Our stay at the Gateway Coonoor was great. We enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and complimentary foot soaks provided to us in our rooms. Had some snacks kept at the room, been made complimentary, it would have been awesome. We also enjoyed the food at the hotel and the heritage walk. Had the heritage walk been combined with some knowledge of history of the hotel and rooms, it would have been even better.

The overall experience at gateway taj was excellent. Especially Mr. Satish with whom I interacted with at the Resort was very cooperative in all way . He helped us book the toy train. Mr. Kamesh is equally good with the reservation. Thank you all for making our stay wonderful and one of the best.
