We stayed in May / June 24 as a family with 2 adults and a 10 and 12 year old. Our 7th yha hostel holiday and definitely the best yet! We had a 4 bed room with 2 (bunk) beds and an ensuite shower room. Shower was clean and hot water with good pressure. The room was spacious. Each bunk had a plug and there were more plugs as well. The room had an entire window wall which gave great views. It was also like a suntrap / greenhouse and made the room VERY hot. There was 1 small window which only opened slightly. The curtain design meant you couldn't block all the sun without blocking the window and the cooler air the room desperately needed. I imagine in the warmer summer months the room would be far to hot to sleep comfortably. The curtains were not black out but were darkish. We only had 1 pillow on each bed but I asked for more and it was no problem. The communal areas had decent WiFi. Down stairs there are washing machines (£1), a drying room for wet coats and muddy boots, and they will store bikes for you too. Also a TV lounge with a large selection of books, games and toys to suite adults and children. You can access the large enclosed garden from the lounge so children have plenty of space to play safely. There is Also a games room where you need cash to play things like table football. On the first floor is the reception and a large dining room including sofa areas and the communal kitchen. There are more books and colouring etc on shelves in this room. The views from this room are amazing! You can order food here or cook your own in the well equipped kitchen. We had breakfast once but at £40 for our family of 4 to eat breakfast we only had it once. The breakfast was good and tasty. Full English, and continental with tea, coffee juice, cereal, croissant, jam etc. The kitchen has 4 sinks, 4 fridges, 1 freezer, 4 ovens, 5 hobs, 3 microwaves, toasters and is really well equipped including cafetier, tea pot, jugs, egg cups and everything else you might need. This room also has the most amazing views and access to picnic tables for alfresco dining. All rubbish needs to be sorted and there are bins for most things including food waste. Brilliant. And a water bottle refill station too. The second floor has bedrooms and another small sitting area next to a window with views, then there's the 3rd floor observation lounge with awesome views in every direction. The staff are friendly and visible. The whole place was clean and tidy and spacious. We could always find a quiet space to sit. There is free parking though we quite often got the last space. The train station is about a 10 minutes walk away. There is a large spar shop about 10 mins walk away, which includes a relatively large "free from" section and many dairy free milk alternatives. Conwy is beautiful. With pubs and shops and cafes and fish n chips. We had a lovely boat ride and saw the smallest house. We spent a very happy 3 nights here in half term. A family with 2 adults and 2 children age 10 and 12. Our room was spacious and the en suire shower room was clean and had an excellent shower and shower head and plentiful hot water. We had a room with 4 (bunk) beds The room had beautiful views but the very large window wall, where the sun streams in all morning, only had 1 very small window which only opens a small amount. This made the room very hot. It was not that hot when we were there but the room was boiling. I imagine in the summer when the weather is properly hot the room would be too hot to sleep. The curtains are not black out, but are dark ish. The self catering kitchen was excellent, clean and well equipped. We made a few meals and picnics in this space. My children were 10 and 12 which made breakfast quite expensive. We ate it 1 day and it was very nice, but the other days we saved ourselves £40 and sorted out ourselves. The WiFi in the public spaces is good. The TV in the lounge is a large size and has all the free channels. There is a washing machine available (£1) and a drying room where you can leave wet coats and muddy boots. You can also safeky store bikes. There is a spacious enclosed garden so children can play safely and freely. Lots of books and games and toys for both children and adults The views are out of this world, especially in the kitchen and dining room. There are several lounge areas including the top level view lounge (not served by the lift) with amazing views. There is a large Spar about 10 minutes walk away, which includes a decent "free from" section and non dairy milks. The train station is about 10 minutes walk away. Conwy is lovely to visit with lots of nice restaurants and fish n chips and pubs a short walk away. We enjoyed a boat trip from Conwy too. There is a nice pub style restaurant at Conwy Marina which is a gorgeous 30 minute walk away following the coastal path. The whole area is full of fun things to do, and walks etc. We had a very enjoyable stay here, our 7th YHA holiday so far, and definitely the best. If you want a cheap and cheerful place with loads of fun family activities, or walks, or NT places, where you can self cater then you can't go too far wrong staying here. I look forward to returning again soon.

Great place for our group. Very spacious and well located for train station, town and walks. Huge and wonderful views from the 360 degree windows. Easy access to Snowdonia, Anglesea, etc. We are returning for another visit, as we like it so much. The price is reasonable too.

We stayed at YHA Conwy for 4 nights during the summer holidays. It is in a lovely location (albeit up a steep hill). The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We stayed in a private room which was nice however, even with the windows open, it was soooooo hot!!! Thankfully staff did have a fan we could use. My only let down was that the room we were allocated didn't have the nice beds you see in the pictures. It was two wooden bunkbeds which made a lot of noise if someone was moving/tossing and turning on the top bunk. Noise loud enough to wake the rest of the room up. We ended up moving the mattresses from the top onto the floor. This worked and everyone got a good nights sleep (apart from the heat).

This is a great hostel in a lovely location. The hostel boasts panoramic views from the dining area - Llandudno on one side and the mountains of Snowdonia on the other, and there is is a viewing platform that's also a breakout games area / reading room. Zac and Daisy from the YHA team in particular took the time to get to know us, which we noticed and appreciated. The menu is now common to all youth hostels so don't expect surprises, but its ok. You can get breakfast and an evening meal here, and you can decide on the day. The self catering kitchen here is large and well equipped, with an outside seating area for alfresco dining on a budget! Alcohol from a local brewery is served until 10pm, but the hostel is within 10 minutes of the lovely, historic Conwy, which has lots of pubs that serve later than that. While we read the hostel is closed during the day, we found it to be open all the time - which is useful if you need some downtime or that famous welsh weather does its worse! There's little remarkable, or negative about the rooms - they were clean and large. Bunk beds were comfortable and all rooms seemed to be ensuite. You use a key card to buzz in and out, so its hassle free and you can't lock yourself out (the staff were also relaxed about giving replacement cards when our kids lost them somewhere in the building). Ours was on the second floor, and while the large window had views of the bay (Rm 23 on the 2nd floor has the best views, of the castle), it did make it a warm room so we mostly left the curtains closed. As a base, its ideal for exploring the town- a few minutes downhill to get to the town walls from where you can reach the marina or the castle in no time, enjoying great views every step of the way. You can also eat very well at the nearby Library and Cultural Centre. There's ample free car parking - a few spaces directly outside the hostel and more a few paces down the hill. If you turn left out of the hostel rather than right towards the town, you can do a memorable walk up Conwy Hill which has amazing views and can be done easily by families in a couple of hours (just look out for the quite hard to spot footpath sign on the right hand side which takes you over a field to some woods at the base of the hill). While Conwy is great, compact and full of interest, you are about 30-40 minutes from Anglesey and Snowdonia. There are local beaches, but avoid Llandudno as the council has covered it in horrible rocks, effectively ruining it (the pier and cable car are well worth visiting). The thing that sets youth hostels apart is the chance to meet and make friends with other visitors. Its a safe place, so kids can roam freely - there's a games room (with pool table and table football - both 50 pence a game), a TV room with some board games and outside there are tables and a very climbable tree.

Another great YHA. We had a brilliant couple of days here as a group of three families. Rooms are clean and showers brilliant. Views from all the social spaces are fabulous. Big self catering kitchen and grounds for kids to entertain themselves in. It looks a little shabby from the outside but don't let this put you off. Quick walk down into Conwy, which is a lovely little town with a great beach with free parking. Slightly longer walk back up the fairly steep hill but you get used to it quickly. We'll definitely be back to explore more.

This is a wonderful hostel! This was the cheapest of all the hostels we stayed at during our UK travels, but it had the best facilities and amenities among them (though all were great). We were able to wash our laundry (purchased tide pods at reception). We also had their continental breakfast (they have a hot breakfast option as well). Recommended!

Comfortable stay, food was good and the staff very welcoming and efficient. Amazing view all round Conway and over to Snowdonia. Close to Conway and has good parking facilities. Communal area comfortable and enabled good conversations with other visitors.
