Just returned from an amazing week's holiday. The most relaxing holiday I've had in years. I was slightly apprehensive as I had booked the standard 2 bedroom apartment with large balcony and heard that these apartments were a little dated. We stayed in room 218. The apartment was spotless, spacious, huge bathroom and walk in shower. Yes the kitchen and furniture were brown (exactly the same as mine at home) ! but had everything we needed including a large fridge. Arrived about 6 30pm and the curtains were closed. Pulled them open to be greeted with the biggest balcony we've ever had. See pics , the view was absolutely stunning. The location was great for us. We would walk in the morning, steep hill down and usually get a 5 euro taxi back up. None of us have mobility problems but that hill is not affectionately called cardiac hill for nothing. Small supermarket and launderette attached to the hotel and Lidl within walking distance (not too steep to walk there). We went half board, breakfast was great , loads of choice, dinner was also good but it was nice to go out for a change too. Lovely Italian at the end of the street. All the staff were really lovely, would definitely return to Royal Sun and would not hesitate to ask for the same room. No rush for sunbeds by the pool either but maybe that's because it was January and term time?

We spent a month staying at the Royal Sun and absolutely loved it and already going back next year. The apartment was very spacious, had everything we needed, cleaned every day and amazing sea views. We stayed bed and breakfast and there were some great food options locally. The balconies are huge and all overlook the sea and provide a great view of daily sunsets. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel has good gym facilities which help keep up with our exercise routine.

This was our 4th time at the Royal Sun. We arrived at 1230pm to be told that check in isn’t till 4 pm but no problem there is a left luggage place and we popped up to the swimming pool restaurant.By the time we had had lunch we checked in at reception and our rooms were ready. We had one of the apartments on the 5th floor which are the ones that have been updated.The apartment was clean and fresh with everything we needed..Cleaning is available every day apart from Sunday.We used the cleaning service about every 3 days and it was more than enough.The balcony is so big it’s like having another room as part of your apartment.Everyone talks about the view for very good reason it is amazing.Our sun blinds started playing up I went to reception and within 5 mins the maintenance man came to sort it out.If it gets windy they automatically go back in to stop them from getting damaged. We were half board and I have real problems(IBS) usually with hotel food but not at the Royal Sun.Every night I found more than enough to eat and with no problems later.My wife and I have different tastes in food and she too really enjoyed the food.The bread was lovely every day for breakfast and the evening meal was a treat. We used the pool first thing in the morning and it was absolute heaven to swim and then walk back to the apartment to dry off etc.The little pool on the 5 th floor is rather under used but we have never been in the summer. We went on a trip to Loro Park and it took 2and aHalf hours to get there.Return is better because you get dropped off first and the bus goes back the other way . All in all the Royal Sun should be proud of there reputation and we are already looking ahead to 2024 when we can return

The best thing we can say about this hotel was the food was exceptionally good. The views breathtaking! However, we changed hotels as soon as we possibly could, the facilities and standard were very poor. It cost us three days of our holiday, which is the reason to write this review as it was such a shame. Whilst looking this year, the hotel just popped up and brought all those memories flooding back! :-( I have read some of the reviews on here and it is a mystery how they have managed to achieve such high marks, possibly it appeals to more mature couples I do not know. I do know that they impressed me at the time we booked, so you can not always be guided by them and it is personal preferences of course. I can only go on our experience. In our opinion this hotel needed a complete overhaul. I know some of the suits were in the process of being refurbished. As it was last summer when we visited it may well have been completed by now. We only stayed for a few days until we were able to arrange a new hotel. The suit was not one that had been refurbished and although spacious, it was dredfully dated and shabby with a horrible dark and dull bedroom. Great balcony and stunning views. From the photographs I do not believe the hotel itself has changed that much from when we stayed. The hotel is dated and lacks modern amenities that I am sure most would expect. The bar is in a woeful little corner of the dreadfully drab lounge and has a locked grid shutter most of the time. By the pool there is a tiny shop/bar and that Is it! There are plenty of very beautiful hotels to chose from, in our opinion give this one a miss.

Another great stay at the Royal Sun spent 2 weeks being of April. Staff very friendly and helpful. Balcony and view amazing weather Hot Don’t worry about noise from new Crystal apartments, hardly noticed it at hotel. Totally recommend hotel. Stayed room 315 but all rooms have great views of harbour and sea.

This hotel was fine, but definitely not a 4* hotel. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, but I’m guessing they had overbooked them as we were put into a 3 bedroom apartment. I would have preferred the apartment we booked as the balconies were better laid out on the floor below. The room was okay, but to call them ‘deluxe’ was a stretch. They are what you would expect from any appropriately priced 3* hotel. The beds are so uncomfortable, I left with neck and back pain. We had two showers and both of them were slow to drain and leaked all over the floor. The air con in one of the bedrooms leaked. The dishwasher hadn’t been cleaned, smelled bad and had food left in the bottom from the previous guests. We had planned to eat in some nights, but the kitchen was so poorly equipped that we decided to go half board. The food was fine. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, but the evening meals were hit and miss. The staff were mostly friendly, but could also be unaccommodating. We asked for a late checkout as our flight wasn’t until the evening. We were told we could have a maximum of one hour for €20, while another guest was told they could have a late checkout for €10 per hour. The entertainment wasn’t great, and one of the lifeguards wouldn’t let the children throw a ball around in the otherwise empty pool, which seemed a bit miserable, particularly as the person in charge of entertainment had tried to start a water polo game a couple of hours earlier! In summary, we had a good week, but left feeling like we had overpaid for an average hotel with a nice view!

This was our family's third visit to the Royal Sun and we were not disappointed. At all times our room was kept well presented and clean. We were impressed with the facilities and the friendly staff. We stayed half board and the food was of a high standard and always nicely presented. We hope to visit again next year

Booked Standard Bedroom via Travel agency. Some days befor I arrived I Upgraded to Superior room via Hotel webpage. Nice contact! The room itself was great! Cosy bed, rainshower in the bathroom. Fully equipt kittchen. The great view from the balcony! I wish I could have stayed longer in this beautiful place! All employees are very nice and friendly! Thank you all for a phantastic stay!

Best Hotel view in Tenerif and also the best breakfast you could ask for. Very nice staff and a excellent cleaning. Beds where "ok" but the whole experience of the hotel was over the expected. Hotel lies top street in the area so its a tough walk from the hotel to the beach but well worth it.
