This establishment requires a comprehensive renovation. Our garden view room presented an outdated aesthetic, reminiscent of a vintage second-hand store, with furnishings and decor that were frankly unacceptable. The discrepancy between the advertised ratings and our experience suggests a potential misrepresentation, particularly given its classification as a 5-star, 9 out of 10, and "SUPERB" accommodation on bookings.com. Having previously experienced various accommodations across Perth, Busselton, Margaret River, and Denmark, we anticipated a superior experience in Albany, especially considering the premium pricing and the promise of a complimentary cooked breakfast and "boutique" lodging. Regrettably, this has proven to be the most expensive and least satisfactory accommodation we have encountered in Western Australia. Furthermore, the advertised cooked breakfast was substituted with a continental offering due to staffing constraints, leaving us with limited options beyond Greek yogurt and a banana, as other selections were predominantly carbohydrate-based. No microwave or cooking facilities in the room, yet there's a huge black fridge placed in the corner like a piece of artwork. Why, have it? The kitchenette bench top was undersized and was difficult to make a cuppa. The plates provided were too big to fit in the sink to wash. Nothing made any sense. 3 huge mirrors on the wall where you can watch yourself eat while sitting on the grecian outdoor furniture setting which was very uncomfortable. Also mirrors upstairs overlooking the bed, so that was a bit off-putting as well. The location is wonderful as its a quick walk to the beach. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Very disappointed with our stay and a very memorable one for all the wrong reasons...especially for our bank account.

When you book a stay here and you arrive, you get the feeling you are staying in a big home. There are so many homely people touches eg a fire in the lounge, chocolates there too and some port for the end of the night, beautiful comfy beds and spacious bathrooms. Great range of breakfast options too. Staff were very warm and friendly with all the guests.

This was a beautiful guest house - everything about it was first class. Rooms themselves clean, modern , comfortable. Lovely breakfasts , and added bonus of cake and port available in a very nice lounge . Could come and go at any time , free laundry service . Room had spa bath and felt very luxurious.

Wonderful Stay! We had such a great stay here. From the moment we arrived to freshly baked sweet treats and port on offer, the place felt very welcoming. We stayed as two couples in rooms 5 and 6 and both rooms were very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and parts of them have been refurbished. Yes, some of the furniture is slightly old fashioned but everything is well maintained, immaculate and adds to the charm. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen was very good quality which ensured a peaceful night’s sleep. We were slightly apprehensive about arriving after reading some of the later reviews which appear to be after the previous owners sold up. However, everything was fantastic. The duty manager, Christina, was welcoming and friendly. We overheard her going out of her way to accommodate two guests who had been double booked by their booking company, and other guests said the garden suites were also lovely. We had a delicious cooked breakfast who we were told by Christina was done by a new ‘apprentice’ and it was delicious so long may she continue at this lovely guest house. There was also plenty of fresh coffee, juices, fruits, yoghurts and different breads and muffins for toast on offer. Breakfast was extremely well organised considering it was only Christina and the apprentice working. We were genuinely sad to leave and would have loved to have stayed longer. Next time we visit Albany we will stay again and can’t wait to see the future of this wonderful place. Thanks again, the McKays. Highly highly recommend.

We were somewhat concerned when we read the review that we would be hassled by lots of staff. This could not have been further from the truth. There was no one to see as we collected our key. The room was clean and comfortable with all things you would expect. The “spa” reference turned out to be a bath with a jacuzzi in it. Fine but fully exposed to bedroom as was shower. We found a screen downstairs to add a bit of privacy. Continental breakfast was fairly average but cooked scrambled eggs and bacon very good. There were treats to eat as well as port. There was a lounge where a few people sat rather uncomfortably. It felt more like a house on a residential road, than a hotel. It worked I suppose but a little peculiar.

Lovely restful boutique hotel (for mature people) . Very clean and tidy, outside and in. Self check in with explanatory paperwork. Nicely appointed lounge, dinning room and small courtyard. We had room six, (1st floor)spacious and comfortable, mini fridge , kettle etc. Spacious bathroom with shower. "View of the Aussie bush" is a bit of a stretch, just tree tops. Lovely choice and well presented breakfast, use of a toaster and microwave in the "evening". Close (150m) to a beach and 10 minutes drive into town. Helpful and cheery staff.

Rented garden suite for almost 500$ per night for 2 adults plus one child. Nice rooms and beds, lounge was very soft, bathroom seemed a bit outdated, and the spiders in all corners did not appear to help. For that price one can expect shampoo and proper shower gel; instead there was a handwritten sign saying „sorry but we ran out of shampoo“ - K-Mart has very good offers though. Breakfast was nothing special, had much better brekkie in other places which asked the same price. Overall, too expensive for what is on offer.

We stayed one night in the beach house at bayside. The rooms are clean, spacious and have everything you need. Breakfast was perfect including fresh made egg specialties. Great stay travellingaround
