艾黛兒鄉間別墅飯店(The Ennerdale Country House Hotel ‘A Bespoke Hotel’)

Shocking experience! Firstly the trip booked stated 2 breakfast plus 2 evening meals , this was not the case with the hotel stating it was bed and breakfast only, I would have paid the lower rate if I knew this ! The room was then absolutely filthy and had a mattress at least 5 years past its best , solution to this was a mattress topper that really didn't help... The walls are paper thin and the noise from above was just ridiculous, sounded like a clog dancing contest .. Worst bit of the whole stay was the bathroom , you needed a shower after leaving the room never mind as you were in there , the floor tiles were all smashed and sharp and the grout was just black ( lifted the shower mat from the floor after taking a shower and it was filthy ) there was mold all over the skirting board and the shower didn't work correctly ( I have a video to show ) The room ( room 30 ) needs taking apart and starting again ... nobody should be allowed to stay in there ) I will be contacting the hotel separately and I believe a full or partial refund should be offered !

I unfortunately don't drive so had a bit of a hike i.e. walk to the hotel, if I had knowledge of local taxi firm I could've been faster.

Walking in the hall way to reception is fine and staff are fine. The Room was extremely tired, no not even tired, broken, the bathroom lights look a few seconds to come on, rusty and half working bathroom taps (the chelatest ones they could find 40 years ago) the teaspoons were dirty where the cleaner had just rinsed them in the bathroom sink and I dared not use the mugs after noticing that. The cheapest pine furniture that one could buy and it is completely utterly all bashed and beaten to death. Nothing other than worthy for the skip. Wardrobe was missing handles etc too. The curtains may as well not have been there as car lights shon through all night and it was as if they cars were 2 meters away it was so noisy. The TV in the room is the worst I have ever seen, 2002 is asking for its cheapest tv back… The building itself needs a load of work done to it, the beams when you walk in are rotten and clearly need immediate replacing. There are some outbuildings with falling down roofs which is clearly very dangerous. The This would be fine if I spent £10-15 to stay but unfortunately it was a huge amount more. Again nothing on the staff but this place was seriously a huge let down. Will not return and advise others not to risk it either.

We planned our trip to the Lakes District and the Yorkshire Dales and wanted to start in the western Lakes District area. We picked this gracious hotel and are happy we did. We enjoyed our two nights here and used it as a base to see St. Bees and planned to walk around Ennerdale Water. Due to the heavy rain, we changed our plans and visited the Senhouse Roman Museum in Maryport and the city of Whitehaven. The ability to pivot was key to our trip. Breakfast each morning was excellent, and we enjoyed the dinners too. Many of the guests were on the Coast-to-Coast walk, either the full walk, shorter hops, or doing highlights walks. When we did get drenched, the staff helped us figure out ways to dry our clothes. Dinner conversations between the various guests were entertaining and lighthearted. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

We used the Ennerdale Country House Hotel for our Mantrailing weekend event. Jackie and her team could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff friendly and welcoming, and the dogs were treated amazingly (even a cut up and cooled breakfast sausage was available for one particular lucky breakfast attendee!) Thank you to the team at the Ennerdale for all your help and kindness throughout our stay!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Ennerdale in as many months and have had a fabulous experience during our recent stay. Jackie and her team made us all feel extremely welcome and the organisation from packed lunches to cleanliness of rooms was superb. The location is ideal and it is a pet friendly hotel - now how hard are they to find - can't wait to go back next year

First time staying and what more could we ask for yes its a old building but so much character . We were made to feel welcome from walking in the door . Food was fantastic couldnt manage the pudding!!! And breakfast well just perfect. Our room was overlooking the garden with balcony. The best nights sleep in lord knows how long so comfy and so needed . We will definitely return . Perfect location only sad we didn’t stay longer. Big shout to rachel made our 25th wedding anniversary a special day . Thank you ❤️❤️

We have just had a 4 night stay here. Hotel is very clean & staff are all so lovely. Cannot fault the food at all. Plenty of choices on the menu & it changed regularly. Yes it is a little dated, but it has character unlike some more modern hotels. Good location for driving out to different areas.

Mixed review, great service at the restaurant and at breakfast, check in rushed. The property and grounds are grand but all is tired and dated. The rool balcony doir was open by a centimetre letting in a heavy draft and wind noise, cobwebs and missing lightbulbs evident I also question the safety of the hardwired extension lead in room 208 bellw the kettle. For the money paid overall great property but poor comfort and value.
