ZamZam is a fantastic value! The hotel is simple and straightforward, but super comfortable. Selong Belanak beach is a bit further than I expected taking about 10 minutes to walk there from the hotel, but I rented a scooter easily enough to get around to some of the big surf breaks. I really enjoyed surfing at Serana and Mawi, which are both short and beautiful drives from the hotel. Tello the hotel manager is a super friendly, funny, and helpful man! His wife cooks delicious food as well! I liked it so much at ZamZam that I extended my original two nights and ended up staying eight nights in total!
The staff are all very nice and eager to help. The resort is very beautiful just like the pictures and like out of the movies. The restaurant was great too!
It was quiet there and peaceful. It was perfect for me. All the guests are polite and nice.
Only one thing puzzles me. I ordered the ride to the public ferry the last day when I check out. The receptionist clearly told the driver to lead me to the public ferry location. However, the driver led me to a private ferry store. I spotted the scheme by the price. And then, while the driver was there with me, I was told to give the money to another guy. He seemed to be nice and tried to help. Until later on, I realized his helps require money at the end. He asked me specific price for his help and his friend. It was an awful experience. The public ferry was literally just opposite to the private stall. And the driver specifically pointed me to the private stall. I suspect they know each other.
I felt like I was framed just because I didn’t know and asked for help.
Be careful for all the travelers to Indonesia. There are a lot of nice people here, but also be alerted for schemes.
Overall the hotel is very nice and calm, with clean and spacious room. However I think the service could really be improved, it happened several time that asking information or food or any service to one of the staff they seem to not understand or lack knowledge for basic thing lime checkout time or else. Mainly I think the issue is because all the staff are dressed the same but they have different role so you cannot differentiate the receptionist from the waiter which makes complicated situations and miscommunication all the time. Also the breakfast was not so good, mainly because lacking basic ingredients like fruits. Overall I would still recommend it but just encourage owner to improve staff training
Excellent hôtel, personnel très sympathique. Petit déjeuner excellent. Belle piscine avec un beau cadre, même s’il se détériore en cas de pluie.
