Great service, Great choice of products. Special mention to Terrie (spell check) she is awesome! Remembers choice of drink and always had a smile. Thank you to all the Team!. Never tried the food, or the hotel, however I believe talking to people it’s a great venue for ALL.
Probably one of the worst hotels I've stayed in to be perfectly honest, It was like staying in Fawlty towers. Funny smell in reception greeting you didn't bode well for our stay & my other half was trying to make light heartedness of the place by saying we're only sleeping there lol. Receptionist although friendly & cheery enough obviously wasn't told the restaurant situation, we checked in about half 5 normally if there's a problem with food the reception would tell you upon check in but not a peep here. We put our stuff in our room & going through the corridors you can tell it's really dated & hasn't been upgraded from what looks like a mish mash of budget chain hotel companies have seen ownership through the years. The door didn't seem to like our card it took 5 attempts to gain access & once inside the room was quite large which was surprising & clean but a large wet patch in front of the wardrobe/TV stand/desk/dressing table greeted us like there had been a flood from above but the ceiling was intact so we couldn't work out where it had come from. Some of the lights in the room didn't work either. We had been traveling most of the day so we went down to the restaurant about 6pm that looks a lot better than the hotel decor to be fair & seems a large and family orientated area but looks like another Mish mash of hotel chain interior. The restaurant wasn't busy when we ordered food be lucky if there were 20 customers in it, my other half ordered us food, our order was accepted and nothing was said about delays about 5 mins later we heard them tell someone at the bar ordering food that there was an hour's wait on food due to staff shortages which was quite surprising given how quiet it was on a Saturday evening. Someone else in our party joined us & we told them that apparently there's an hour's wait on food so they promptly put their food order in yet nothing was said again to them about a delay in food. Another 15 or so minutes passed & someone else in our party ordered food to be told there was no more food available this was about 6.45pm on a Saturday evening it was really bizarre. The guy & myself offered to go into the kitchen and just make him a sandwich but we were refused lol. We sat opposite the kitchen I thought there was only one person in there I could see a guy with a black polo shirt on & that was it but the music was pumping out like they were having a party. My other half said no there's about 5 of them I can see right in the kitchen & then another guy came out & it looked like they'd been mucking about in the kitchen because floured handprints were all over his shirt. All the while we were still waiting on our starters. It took an hour for us to get our starters then another hour to get our mains. The others in our party who were lucky enough to order food got their food orders before us even though they ordered after us. The guy who couldn't get food ended up going to the garage over the road for food. We probably would've
We stayed at The Owl Hambleton one night ago, and I only just about feel recovered enough to write a review. The room was clean, staff friendly, and there were multiple sockets for all of our devices to charge overnight. No issues there. What scarred me for life, however, was the paper thin walls between our room and the couple’s next door. I had just settled into bed (which was far too soft, and i did struggle to get comfortable- I prefer firm mattresses. Husband slept like a log.), and I heard the rather loud arrival of the couple in number 4, all giggly and tipsy. They continued to talk and laugh loudly and then the noises became somewhat different. Moans and loud groans of pleasure emanated from them, at first quite fast and loud- the pounding must have been quite intense at that point- and then motion must have been slowed to a tease as the moans remained frequent, but with at least 3 seconds between each one, each getting louder and higher pitched. Now, this went on for a good twenty minutes and was quite uncomfortable to listen to. I felt like I was in the room with them for the volume they reached. What was most baffling was there was no sound from him, until a rather loud finish which sounded more like a garbled toe stub, and the woman never seemed to reach her happy ending, which after all the effort she put in throughout the duration of the show, I was slightly disappointed for her. I didn’t sleep until midnight due to this and the softness of the bed, which meant I was very tired the next day, where my next traumatic experience occurred. After a morning visit to the toilet, it blocked and would not empty out. I tried to look for a loo brush to dislodge the toilet paper and additional debris, but the bathroom did not have one. I didn’t fancy asking some poor staff member to come and unblock it, so I used the bin liner from the empty bathroom bin to cover my hand and arm and manually tackle it. All was fine unti I removed my hand and realised the bag had split and I’d been unblocking a toilet with my own bare hands. I don’t think we’ll be coming back to the Owl until walls are thicker and bog brushes are supplied in all rooms.
