The staff are very nice and the location is excellent - city centre easily walkable and there is a bus for £2 single anyway. The cooked breakfast is good, usually, although tomatoes were a bit hard. Smashed Avocado on toast was very good, as were the poached eggs. Breakfast buffet is not very impressive. Would have liked more than one cheese and sorry-looking ham. Disappointed that espresso or cappuccino etc were charged extra when the room was more than £300 a night. Suggestion to put in a coffee machine in the breakfast area so people can help themselves. Bathroom was just about adequate but shower head fixed and the hairdryer was on the wall in the bathroom, so underpowered to say the least. Needs renovation to come up to today’s expectations. Realise this is a Victorian house but the plumbing is not good when you can have to flush the loo numerous times..The hotel also needs better ventilation. During the summer, it can get very hot. There was no fitness area, no spa etc. Room cleaned only on request and no replacement of water bottles unless you request them. Not sure what makes this 4-star in terms of facilities. Wouldn’t stay again at more than £300 a night for a room that needs serious renovation to make it pleasurable. There is an excellent restaurant just steps away over Banbury Rd called Gee’s. Two pubs/other restaurants and a small shop close by in North Parade Avenue.
Lovely place, good size rooms, friendly staff and Steak for breakfast! Also easy walk from City Centre. Will stay again when I'm next in Oxford, nothing to complain about, Hotel in nice location and food was excellent. Nothing else to add, but as review has to be at least 200 words I've added this bit!
A friend and I had planned to go to Oxford to celebrate Mayday in 2020 but the pandemic meant this didn’t happen. In November 2022 my friend tried to book into the same place but it was full. There weren’t many rooms available and he booked us into the Ali Inn based on the photos. Neither of us read a review until the day before when I did. The majority of the reviews were poor but as we had no choice we arrived not expecting what to find and somewhat concerned. However There was someone to meet us Our room was clean and tidy. There were sufficient towels, toiletries and tea and coffee. Because of Mayday prices had increased everywhere and the Ali Inn was no different but at £260 for 2 nights wasn’t bad. It is a budget hotel. It is centrally located which is good. There is noise as there is a pub opposite and the theatre beneath it. It is a number of rooms up stairs and adjacent to a sandwich business run by the same people. The owner? Manager? Was very amenable helpful and friendly. The room was a good size as was the toilet and shower room. Definitely good for budget travellers who don’t mind noise. Ideal location very central and close to the bus station. Clean. Big towels too! Bed slightly soft and that’s the only slight criticism I have.
Really nice room! Lovely toiletries (L'Occitane) and good quality coffee, tea etc, had everything I needed, quiet, comfortable. I had an issue with the power sockets and this was resolved within 10 mins. Excellent location, I would highly recommend.

訪訪客用戶First up: do not, under any circumstances, book a room here. Booked a Saturday and Sunday for a friend’s thirtieth. Checked in and unpacked, then another couple showed up for the same room. Turns out the hotel had cancelled our room without telling us (but, notably, AFTER charging us) and then required us to leave our event, come back, pack up all our stuff, and move out, (or “we will take your things and throw them out on the street”). The manager on the phone was unable to explain what had happened, couldn’t access the back-end system, and eventually decided that it was our fault that we’d mistyped an email address (an error on our end BUT we had been in text contact throughout the preceding week and they hadn’t bothered to tell us we no longer had a reservation), and then later that we hadn’t clicked “confirm” on an email we never got. Side note: I’ve worked in hotels for years; this explanation is nonsense; and even if it wasn’t - if you thought we’d cancelled, why did you still charge us for the room? I guess this is what happens when you don’t actually have any staff on the premises to sort out issues. As it was, after booking and paying for a room months ago, we were left stranded in the middle of Oxford with nowhere to stay. No apology from the hotel and it took two weeks of both of us dealing with increasingly hostile management before getting our room refunded. Minus a tenner they kept for themselves to pay for “the diary management’s company’s admin fee” - again, I worked in the industry, we all know that this is nonsense, Eviivo OBVIOUSLY don’t charge admin fees per email, but I guess they fancied helping themselves to an extra £10 for all their hard work in not hosting us. Just really small-time behaviour all round. It’s a shame because the room itself looked nice but I would recommend that you only book this place if you’re fine with not actually being allowed to stay in it.
The location was a short walk to downtown Oxford and not far from a bus stop. I was traveling with my mother and adult daughter. We all slept well on the comfy beds. My daughter and I have celiac disease and had put a note when we made our registration months ago. We were both just hopeful for a nice cup of coffee or tea and some fruit. The owner went out of his way to provide us with a continental breakfast that met our dietary needs and was filling and delicious. He was so conscientious to mention that he used a separate toaster for our gluten-free toast. I would definitely recommend this lodging for the friendly and helpful staff, attention to detail, comfortable rooms and the location.
This hotel self rates as 2 stars - room was small, no bath, small sink, desk, only stool no chair. Nothing else. Shared bath. If you are on tight budget & this is what you want, then it’s ok. Conveniently located by train station. Negatives: internet was unacceptably slow. Carpets in common areas dirty and need a deep clean. A paint job would make common areas more presentable. Stairs extremely narrow and steep. Continental breakfast included; staff friendly, helpful except for one grumpy individual.
If it was not for the amazing staff, I would have left and asked for full refund. The manager - I believe her name is Ema, and room cleaning lady, they call her Auntie were amazing. She did everything from cleaning the rooms, hotel, and cooking! She deserves a raise. I think the owner is lucky - did not meet him, but here is my feedback directly to him: You ate lucky to have such dedicated staff. Please acknowledge them and reward them. The hotel has a lot of deferred maintenance. No hot or good pressure bathroom water. Beds are old, window does not work, no light bulbs in fixtures, no heating, very cold rooms …. Etc etc May be you are waiting to sell the place. However, I think you should consider spending some money on capital repairs. The breakfast is terrible. Please try your self the Spanish or bacon omelette!
