We stayed in nice hotels on this trip. This was the best of the best. It is located near a tiny hamlet called Johannesburg which is near the Rhine River. Town does have a couple of restaurants and also a bank with an ATM machine. There is also a Shell station very close to the hotel. Located on a beautiful vineyard. Hotel is spacious, relaxing, tranquil. It is a modern two story structure. One drives through a gated entrance (no guards, left open). Parking surrounds the hotel and is easy. Next to the parking is a building housing two restaurants that have incorporated the remains of a 19th century pseudo castle. Room was very large, elegant, modern. Bathroom also large and modern. Bed was comfortable but the cot they brought in was torture. Window faced the front of the hotel. We could see the 'castle', vineyard. Hotel staff were very nice. Provided us with gifts of wine and other amenities. I had concerns booking this. We wanted to spend several days seeing the Rhine river castles and I was worried it was too far from that. Adding to my concern was that it was only 35 minutes to drive to Frankfurt airport. So I thought this was out of the way. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel was a great base for exploring the best parts of the Rhine. Drive along the river was pictureque and we could easily reach what we wanted to see in a short time. The hotel is located on a slope rising above the river. Driving downhill through the small town brought us to the river's edge. There is a car ferry that runs frequently taking one to the other side so we did that one day. Another day we drove the highway on our side of the river. Both were great drives. Getting to the airport on our last day was quick and easy (helped that it was Sunday when everything is closed). FYI - for those with a rental car you can fill up at the airport just as you get to the rental return/departure area.
Very nice three days spent at this hotel . Yes we were here last Christmas and had the same room overlooking the road ,railway and the River and expecting the noise !! View from windows always something to see . Perfect with a cup of tea and a biscuit in the morning The room was large tidy and clean and the hotel has many other rooms that are quieter. Fabulous breakfast with a glass of Prosecco if required . Tasty bread rolls ,cheeses , salmon ,sausage eggs etc with a great view of the river Bar area with Tv .Parking 10 euro a day Christmas market begins 30 metres away ! Dont forget to take a trip on the chairlift ! To the monument This hotel is great to visit any time of the year . Give it a go
TThomas DThe staying experience was okay, but landscaping horrible and ”curb appeal” dropped off in last six years. One of the only shows in town. I can not complain too much, but not luxury at all. The breakfast is still good and I would book it as part of your stay. Be ready to wait a long time for taxi, but that is really not their fault. Ultimately not a bad stay and cost is reasonable. The outside look is not good especially landscaping and demise of the former theater next door. Can't figure out what project is staging on the property, but looks horrible. Again, do not hesitate to stay, but be open minded.
Very nice hotel! As an old building, it does not have an elevator. So if you go with heavy suitcases, be prepared to go up some stairs depending where your room is. Room in the first floor es number 40. I suppose the view is not as nice as in 3r floor
