We were staying in Cinderford and struggling to find a place to drink ale and eat food a bit later in the evening. After a walk in the area we stopped by on the off chance and found a nice friendly bar, serving a well kept Wye Valley Brewery Ale. We kept going back every night for the rest of the holiday. It was well worth the mile each way walk. Note although food was not served here, there is a very good value place about 100 yards away, we ate there most nights and returned here for a final drink or two.

The reservation was for myself and my teenage son. The staff when checking in were friendly and accommodating. The accommodation was warm and welcoming and clean. There was one radiator in the room which was off, But once this was switched on. The room was fully heated. Facilities in the room were as expected bottled still water, kettle along with tea and coffee also bathroom essentials. The room was facing towards the main road of the hotel, which did not raise cause for concern. We slept peacefully and the beds were really comfy. I would recommend this hotel for short night stays.

Bed is clean ,but shower you can't !!! It's just a trickle ,my room was like a dungeon dark and shabby one window boarded up ,it was a horrible smelly place , the room was up and down the carpet filthy ,no where to hang towels to dry ,but you don't need that as you have a Job getting wet ,lastly the advert states a restaurant but they don't have any food at all we had to go to another hotel for breakfast and dinner, it's a horrible place very old and charming but to sleep and stay forget it I will never return here again !!

Avoid at all costs. Myself and my daughter booked in here for 1 night on the way to Manchester. We emailed.them in advance to advise we would.be arriving after 9pm due to going to a football match at Gloucester City first. We were told that wasn't an issue. On arrival at 10.20.the whole place was locked up we called the out of hours which went straight to an answer machine. We text it and kept calling it eventually someone called us back and told us we were to late they were closed I told.him we had paid for a booking and they new we were arriving late. They hung up on us so we were sat in the car trying to find accommodation at 10.30pm they called us back again and said I'm at the door are.you coming in or not. If it had been early and there was accommodation available locally we would have said no but at that time we had no option. When we got in we were told again we were to late so.i told.them I'd emailed and been told it was fine. The person who met us said he knew nothing of it and was going to bed. He gave us the keys and told us where our room was. It was up very steep narrow steeps the whole place smelt funny. When we found our room there was a sign on the door saying mind steps. When you open the door you are met by 4 very steep steps down into the room with the light switch half way down it. The room was tidy enough but very cold as the window was wide open. The beds are very uncomfortable so after a few hours sleep we left at 7am to get away from there.

Whilst check in was ok and pub was ok and the pop up barbecue was excellent . Good job they were there as otherwise we would not have got any food as when I tried to book breakfast I was told to walk to the other pub for breakfast as chef was on maternity leave . Well we were given room 3 with one double and two singles . No bedside tables cups with no saucers one spoon . Some bedroom lights were not working . Walking to another pub for a breakfast when you are disabled Is not an option . We ended up driving into town to find a cafe . The outside furniture was very tatty and the outside bar wasn’t in operation. Room 3 was on the front of hotel on a busy main road so having windows open meant constant traffic driving at speed . Room 3 is in an appalling condition given the price for room no food £115.00 pounds . The whole outside wall is seriously damp bubbled and spores growing. The room should not be used in that condition.

Unfortunately no food on offer at all The water was cold in the room, the electric shower was probably the worst shower ever ( hot and cold when it feels like it) the mattress felt like a bag of marbles was poured over it, overall I was pretty disappointed
