志願者旅館(Volunteer Inn)

Every person I interacted with at the Volunteer Inn was really friendly - from the young woman behind the bar who greeted me and checked me in, to the chaps in the Indian restaurant (no cooking smells in the bedrooms, as restaurant quite separate, just in case you're worried abou that!), to the lady who cooked my delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really good - real coffee, wonderfully fresh eggs and great sausages and bacon. Lots of choice for vegetarians and those just wanting cereal too. I hadn't stayed in a b&b with a shared bathroom for years, so had been a bit worried about that aspect, but it was totally fine, as the bathroom was accessed by a key and it was only shared with one other room. I felt safe and comfortable, so that was not an issue. Although I'm originally from Cheltenham, I had not been to Chipping Campden for decades - WOW! It's one of the most unspoiled Costwold towns I've seen, with the most thatched houses in one place I think I've ever seen! The villagers I spoke with were so very helpful and friendly (was on a quest for new tights for my evening biz meeting!) Looks like the town is directly on the Cotswold Way too, so I shall return with my daughter and have a good old yomp! Recommend very highly - the bedroom was simple, but clean and very comfy (the only reason I marked down to a 4 on cleanliness was because my little waste bin had not been emptied from the previous stay....feel a bit mean doing that but, well, it is important...) I can't wait to go back!

The two rooms (8 and 9) over the pub bar are so noisy that they are simply not suitable to let. The noise from the bar made sleep impossible before 12.40am , when finally it went quiet. It’s the worst place I’ve ever stayed, and if like me, a good nights sleep is your top priority , then just don’t go there !

What's to like, The Pub is just at the edge of town so you don't need to worry about which way to turn it's right. It's on the Cotswold way so if you're walking it's ideal. Our room no.2 on the first floor was fine overlooking the very pleasant beer garden. The staff are really friendly we arrived in the chaos of their summer festival and the cup final but the girl on duty had no problem showing us our rooms. Breakfast was excellent and the evening curry from their partnership Indian restaurant on the premises was outstanding. The pub bar is basic and was clearly frequented by friendly if somewhat noisy locals which for us was great. If I was returning to Chipping Camden I wouldn't bother looking elsewhere. What's not to like, Well it's nit picking but I'd like a shelf in the shower cubicle and the toilet seat won't stay up

The Volunteer Inn was a lovely place for a 2-night stay while in the area for a wedding. The room (twin beds for me and my daughter) was a good size, very clean and nicely decorated. It was well equipped with towels, tea tray etc. There was some noise from the public during opening hours but it didn’t bother us and should be expected. The breakfasts were fantastic and they have a good system for preordering the night before. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the check in/out process was quick and easy.

Peter was a great help with getting me checked-in early, as I was off for a wedding and would have otherwise struggled. Super friendly and helpful and got an upgrade on the room too. The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked. The town is so lovely and pretty. As it is a historic property, the stairs and floor above were a bit creaky. something to bear in mind if you're sound-sensitive...

We stayed in Chipping Camden for 2 nights, our base to explore the Cotswolds by car. There's free street parking avilable near the Inn. We had Room #8 on the 1st floor, which faces the main street - which was surprisingly quiet at night (possibly due to its location) despite the very popular and noisy bar downstairs. It wasn't ensuite (missed that detail while booking) but had a private attached bathroom (exclusive set of keys provided to us) outside. The room is reasonably sized and well equipped (coffee facilities, a small sink etc.). Breakfast is served at the Maharaja restaurant downstairs, with a good spread also catering to veggies like us. Overall, great value for Chipping Camden and a very comfortable stay.

We stayed in The Volunteer Inn for 4 nights and had an amazing time. The service is exceptional, especially the breakfast. Kim is so polite and cooks the best breakfast and was so helpful and attentive all the time. The room is clean and comfortable with everything you need to have an epic Cotswold adventure.

L’hôtel ne correspond pas à un •••. Il est désuet et très mal isolé. Nous avons gelé au mois de juillet. Chambre bruyante au dessus des cuisines. Contrairement à ce qui est mentionné dans le descriptif l’hôtel n’a pas fe parking. Soit le par’ing est gratuit mais c’est dans la rue!!! Restaurant très moyen….

We were expecting a charming BnB but the accommodations are like a roadside American motel, basic and not charming at all! Apart from the bartender who let us into our room, we were never greeted by another soul, a pretty inhospitable place!
