Everything you love about BV is walkable from this completely remodeled house. Just steps from Main Street and a short walk to South Main, town square and the Arkansas River. This house is super clean, with new appliances and furniture. You're just 10 minutes from Cottonwood and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and 20 minutes from Salida. Get to Monarch and Ski Cooper ski resorts in under an hour. This is our 2nd home and we want to share it with others who will treat it like their own. Books, games, puzzles and storage for your things.Decor -- Decor is inspired by our love of local history, nature and the great outdoors. Throughout the home you will find mementos of local and Colorado history, including a rare leather postcard from nearby Twin Lakes postmarked 1907 and a vintage Buena Vista map from 1882. We have also added nods here and there to our appreciation of the local avifauna. Sarah spent countless hours antiquing for just the right treasure to place here or there. With our limited space we have carefully chosen utilitarian objects to do double duty: they are fun to look at, but also practical to use, such as a vintage metal trivet, measuring spoons, grater and measuring cup all from the 1950s. Kitchen cabinet knobs are upcycled vintage valve handles from the 1960s, and our kids carefully selected exactly which one should go where. Recreation Access - Hiking, biking, bouldering, trail running, fishing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, rafting and SUPing are mere steps away. The house is about a block from the Buena Vista Boulder Garden, which provides rock climbing features for all levels from children to advanced. Adjacent to the Boulder Garden are several access points to the stunning Arkansas River trail. To access the Midland Mountain trail system and thousands of acres of BLM land, take a pleasant, short jaunt north along the river trail. Within a five-minute walk you can also enjoy Buena Vista's municipal tennis courts, disc golf course, pump track, new skate park and a brand new playground. Cottonwood and Mt Princeton hot spring resorts are each a twenty minute drive and Monarch and Ski Cooper ski resorts are both less than an hour away.Dining and Shopping Access - Within a five-minute walk you can enjoy a riverside mouth-watering gourmet meal featuring local farm to table fare at Wesley and Rose (inside the new Surf Hotel), pizza and an IPA from the Eddyline Brewpub, an espresso and to-die-for cup of homemade gelato at the Midland Stop, or the weekly farmers market (June through early October) and free summertime concerts at the South Main square. It is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood on West Main Street. It is also located next to Grandma & Grandpa's House, another VRBO rental. These two properties can be rented individually and or together for larger groups.This amazing vacation rental is perfect for couples looking for an adventure getaway. We have 14 steps into the apartment. You could say this is your first "Fourteener". We have a BBQ grill in the yard and all the utensils to enjoy a perfect meal at home. Old fashioned farmhouse sink. (Washbasin below the sink)Deer often visit the yard in the cool of an early morning or right before sundown.A five minute walk will have you in downtown Buena Vista. A two minute walk will put you in the McPhelemy Park and the Eddyline Brewery and Restaurant. The Park has playground equipment and a lake with a waterfall that is lit up at night. The local Lion's Club stocks the trout in the lake each season and is open to all for fishing with no license needed. We hope a family member will be able to say "I caught my first fish in Buena Vista!". All of our kids and grandkids have enjoyed this activity. Near the Town Lake is the historic Train Depot and Caboose which will be open in the summer months. Continuing east across the highway will lead you into East Main Business District where you will find all kinds of gifts and antique shops, art galleries, Lobacks bakery (glazed donuts and longjohns, our favorites). Heritage Museum (I went to school there long ago), and numerous restaurants. As you continue east you will find a pedal park, tennis courts, softball field, and picnic area. Then the great reward, the majesty of the mighty Arkansas River with an arching footbridge over the water. Once you have crossed over the river, please enjoy the Barbra Whipple Walking Trail and biking trails over Midland. After you return back to the Loft, if you would like to go west (towards the mountains), drive approximately 3 miles and you will find the Comanche Movie Drive- In, (opened in1966 by the Groy family). Take a blanket, a folding chair and a treat to eat and sit outside under the stars and watch a great movie. It just doesn't get any better than that! If you travel past the Drive-in approximately 2 miles you will find the Cottonwood Hot Springs Resort, natural hot springs that you can soak in. Continuing on past the hot springs, approximately 2 miles is the turnoff for Cottonwood Lake, traveling 3 miles, you will then arrive at a beautiful, peaceful, serene mountain lake. Cottonwood Lake is included in our pictures. After you return to the Loft you might like to plan a trip to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs where you can soak in the river with hot water seeping from the ground or swim in the beautiful pools.The Jumpin Good Goat Dairy has free tours and samples, and you get to pet the goats. They are so cute! See the "Welcome Booklet". We also have an regional airport, golf course, hike one of the Fourteeners, mountain biking, ATVing, and fly fishing.
