From start to finish, our stay at Century City Hotel Bridgewater was a real let-down. A few days before arrival, we received an email asking what time we’d be checking in. We replied 2 pm, only to be told in return that check-in was only allowed from 3 pm. I’m not sure what the point was of asking then – it felt completely pointless. We arrived around 11 am and let reception know we’d be going to Canal Walk for a few hours and asked if they could possibly have our room ready a bit earlier. The receptionist said they’d “see what they could do.” When we came back at 2 pm, they were busy checking in other guests, including SAA pilots, yet told us we still had to wait until 3 pm. When I asked again at 3 pm, we were made to wait another five minutes before finally being given our key. It felt unnecessary and inconsiderate. The room itself was clean but not comfortable for sleeping – bright lights from the air-conditioning panel and a constantly flashing fire alarm made the room feel more like an office than a hotel. Our package included shuttle service to and from the Countess Zingara show at Canal Walk. The driver dropped us off on time, but there was no shuttle to fetch us afterward. When I called the hotel, I was told the shuttle was at the airport and unavailable, which was shocking considering it was part of the package. We ended up taking an Uber back at our own cost. I also asked that a manager contact me to discuss these issues, but to date no one has bothered to follow up. Overall, the experience was frustrating, poorly managed, and far below the standard expected from a hotel in this area. The location is great, but the service and attitude of staff completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable stay. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel and won’t be returning.
