We were in Indianapolis for a showcase softball tournament. We typically stay down the street at Homewood Suites, which is Hilton. This year we changed it up to save a few bucks! Worst idea. Check in was smooth, get up to our room and outside our door sat a dirty toilet plunger in a plastic bag. Ok, whatever, not a big deal they will get it. Room was not bad as far as cleanliness goes, the beds are hard as rocks though. Next morning go down to breakfast bar, walk past dirty plunger still, get to breakfast on day 1, out of all the coffee, slim pickens on made food, eggs were full, sausage pattie’s down to like 3, bacon was crumbs. Guests said something to the help and they did restock. Ice machines out of ice. Mind you there is a full house from softball and baseball teams in Indy for a big tournament. Start of day 2, weather delayed and cancelled games the night before. We find out our bracket got cancelled first thing in the morning, so I call hotel to cancel our 3rd night and lady who answers was very helpful, and said she was able to cancel, looked up my booking and everything. she said she heard of the tournament cancellations of bracket play from other guests. Great, thank you. End of day 2 after a long day at fields, go up, walk past dirty plunger still outside our door. Morning of day 3, check out day, rain has moved in and delayed games again. So breakfast was packed, AGAIN, out of everything and nobody could keep up with the demand. Poor planning. So I was able to scoop a little bit of eggs and run up to pack up. Get back down to desk to check out, and verify my cancelled night. Front desk is clueless as to what I’m talking about. Wanted to know who I talked too. I don’t know, whoever you had working on Friday morning at 9:30? So desk girl goes to back to ask what to do, person in back says nothing they can do, but never comes out to talk to me. The day I have to call ********** and have them deal with it since I booked through them. Welp, they said nothing they can do either. Basically this place stole $210 from us because they don’t know what “hospitality” or “customer service” means. I will no longer use a Marriott when we travel. 3 other families on our team that stayed at a Hilton, they were reimbursed without issue due to the circumstances.
