visited Carden park with my daughter for a mothers day stay, Saturday to Sunday. We enjoyed a lovely swim in the pol on Saturday afternoon and again Sunday morning before breakfast. We had cocktails and dinner in the very special Vines restaurant on Saturday evening. The food is cooked to perfection and the service is excellent. We were made to feel very welcome and the menu/ drinks etc explained to us by waitress Georgia. She was so warm and friendly without being over the top. The room was at the back of the hotel and very spacious, we had a double bed each, the bathroom , toiletries (Moulton Brown) and tea/ coffee facilities were lovely and plenty of TV channels which allowed us to relax and unwind . There was also a small table in the room for having a drink or playing cards . The furnishings are comfy and clean . Breakfast was well cooked and well stocked buffet style despite it being very busy that morning. We didn't feel rushed to check out as we were informed that we could use the pool again after checkout if we wished which was a nice touch. Carden parks surroundings are just beautiful and quiet for a tranquil stay . We didn't visit the new spa but checked it out and will definitely return . We would recommend this lovely hotel for a stay with family, friends etc

Taster menu amazing 8 course taster menu and wine was brilliant, highly recommend. Service in bars was poor, waited 20 minutes for two drinks. Room was extremely warm at night and unable to change air conditioning which meant sleeping with patio doors open.

Poor stay overall - not worth the money Despite this being our 4th or 5th stay as returning guests, this one will be our last. Complacency has set in. No extra customer service, just the basics. Bedroom was small, dark, carpet old, dents in the wall, bathroom was basic, shampoo watered down, the bed was really very uncomfortable and old. Walls really thin - heard every conversation of people walking past and the family next door. Leisure area and changing rooms were tired, showers had black mould in them and drains were smelly. No food available after 5pm, only crisps at the bar or the a la carte restaurant that has a dress code! We were asked if it was a special occasion, it was our anniversary and we said as much, but nothing else was said or offered. Why even ask us?? Food at breakfast was sub-standard produce, so much so, we left on the 2nd morning ahead of breakfast as we did not want to eat anything there even tho paid for. Noah and Jess in the bar were the BEST PART of the stay, have very good customer care, super personalities, great at their job and a real asset to the hotel. We left sad and disappointed after paying for still a relatively expensive 2-night stay, after looking forward to our anniversary weekend. Will be looking for better places to stay next time we come to Chester where the customer is put first, the rooms are comfortable and the food is good quality. We are sad we felt so disappointed by this stay after previous visits. Totally not worth the money.

We stayed for 1 night and were delighted with the hotel, grounds, facilities and bar / dining experience. The leisure facilities were great and the swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool / sauna / steam room were very clean and a lovely peaceful benefit to our stay. Unfortunately, the Vines Restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay. Our evening meal in Redmond's Brasserie was lovely and the full English buffet breakfast the following morning was delicious! The bar staff in Morgan's Bar were very helpful and attentive and the drinks were surprisingly very reasonably priced. The open fires in the bar and seating areas were delightful and welcoming. We can't recommend staying here to anyone enough and would definitely return in the future. The only constructive criticism I wish to offer is that it is that hotel residents should receive a considerably reduced tariff for use of the 'Spa at Carden' facilities, with the option to purchase spa treatments if desired.
