This has been a favourite place to stay for almost 50 years! Several changes of ownership, and now a more up-market concentration, with no children. Superb service from all staff. Immaculately clean, and several personal touches. A Nespresso capsule machine in the room was very much appreciated, along with the shortbread and bottled water. (No fridge in the room.) Excellent breakfast and staff happy to modify, such as adding bacon, or tomato, mushroom etc. to the smashed avocado with poached eggs.. Bookings are required for the evenings and the menu is somewhat limited, but the food itself excellent - love the fresh bread with butter too. The afternoon savoury scone with cream cheese and fantastic onion jam, well worth a try, as a change from the scone with clotted cream and jam.
