索拉拉度假村 - 貝爾斯特度假飯店(Solara Resort by Bellstar Hotels)

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The tiles of the bathroom floor were completely lifted off exposing mold from water damage and the moment we walked in, the end table that was screwed into the wall broke off. None of the TVs worked properly. Also, there is absolutely no smoking allowed on the property, not even on your own patio, so if you are a smoker, you will have to go through a long hallways and parkades to get to the outside lobby area. Plus trying to enter back in through the outside doors to get back into the building didn't work, and they told us they were having issues with the pass code doors outside. It was such an inconvenience and we will never stay there again. I never write bad reviews but this hotel experience was a whole different story, and to pay for a bad experience was worse!

During our Recent (Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2023) one-night stay at the Solara Hotel, the temperature in our room remained below 14 degrees Celsius; only at the end, the front desk manager told us that the heating system had broken down, something they did not warn us about when we arrived. In the room, although large and spacious, one of the doors connecting the main living room with the bedroom was out of service; the dishwasher was not working and, to top it all off, neither the pool nor the hot tub were functioning. But of course, we had to pay the full price for a stay that left much to be desired. When we reported all this situation to the reception gentleman, named Oscar, he told us that he was going to talk to the manager to give us a discount, and that he was going to contact us to notify us. We like the overall setup, views and layouts for the 2 bedroom condos. The Take a Hike Cafe was also a highlight. This was our 3rd time staying there in 10 years and it was a bit disappointing to experience so many issues operating old appliances. The kitchens in the 3 condos we booked were unevenly stocked too. The pool and hot tub areas are long overdue for an update too.

When we checked in they upgraded to a 3 bedroomt from a 2 bedroom said because of demand for a 2 bedroom?? was too big. Fridge was nosiy, non stick frying pan needs replacing(mentioned to staff) leather chair in livingroom peeling didnt want to sit in it. Internet called several times couldnt connect. Otherwise the rooms were great like i said lots of extra room for us!

Service was great but room was not. Awful smell coming from the fridge that could not be remedied. Furniture was worn and torn. Coffee pot didn’t fit coffee maker which resulted in coffee being spilled everywhere during brew. Hot tub had layer of filth on top when jets turned off. Beds were comfy and market was great just felt everything else was worn down for the price :-/

WATCH OUT FOR BEDBUGS! We checked into our room and went out for the evening. When we got back to the room and were getting ready for bed, we found bedbugs all over one of the beds (two bedroom suite). There was a fabric headboard they had nested in that was full of carcasses and eggs. We promptly packed up and went to the front desk, where the evening receptionist was less than apologetic and but was able to find us a new room. She assured me that the manager would contact me the following day. The new room was bug free, thankfully, and we stayed another night (mostly because we could not find other accommodations). However, I did not hear from the manager the next day as promised. At checkout, I asked how I would be compensated for the issue, and was told there wasn’t a manager in, but she would reach out to me when she was back at in the afternoon. It is now the following day and I still have not been contacted. IN GENERAL: the property bills itself as luxury accommodations. Bedbugs aside, the rooms and buildings are tired and in disrepair. The elevators are slow (and a bit janky), the walls in both suites could use a complete repaint besides the obvious “touch ups”, and the faux leather sitting chairs have had the leather-like material completely flake off. I’ve stayed at middle of the road chain hotels with better quality rooms.

The room was in poor condition for the price in comparison to other hotels in the area. Definitely did not see the value in this hotel. The rates need to be reduced to be more in line with the condition of the rooms.
