There’s definitely potential here—the rooms are a decent size and with some care and investment, this could be a really lovely place. Unfortunately, the reality is far from that. My room was uncomfortably cold, even with the radiator turned up, and the furnishings were very dated. Cleanliness was also an issue—there were hairs on the pillows when I arrived. Noise at night was another major problem which made it impossible to sleep. I mentioned it to the general manager and was told it was “just the water pump”—no apology, no concern, and no offer to move rooms. Reception isn’t staffed at certain times, which I understand, but then the out-of-hours contact details should at least work. No one responded to calls, which is not acceptable—what if there had been an emergency? Breakfast added to the strangeness. The “breakfast to go” consisted of a toastie and a croissant with no best-before date. It’s far from what most people would expect, especially when there’s a restaurant space that could easily be used for a simple continental setup if there were more effort put in. Such a shame, because the space really does have potential—but it’s being completely wasted right now.
