The best thing about Sun palace is the wait staff and bartenders, They were fantastic! The resort was clean. Food was ok. The bad part is the front desk agents are super pushy and use super pushy sales tactics to try and get you to go and try other resorts and book things. We got there and was sat down and hammered on going to a 90 minute thing. They even went so far as to call our room to remind about that, rather then checking on our stay. One lady said we had to bring each of our IDs and credit cards. It was overbearing and because of that we won’t go back. It’s sad, because we had such a great time with the waitstaff and how friendly and informative they were.

We enjoyed our 4th trip to Sun palace. Our anniversary dinner on the beach was very romantic. The food was fantastic as always, however we were not to fond of the changes to the Fuego menu. Bring back the bacon wrapped chicken, please...... We visited Trattoria twice for the chicken masala and impeccable service. Sun palace feels like home to us and we cannot wait to see everyone again next year!

Awful Experience – Avoid if Booking Through ******* We absolutely hated our stay and will never return. If you book through *******, prepare to be treated like a second-class guest. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and only spoke to us when pushing their timeshare pitch. Anytime we asked for help, they told us to “contact *******.” Only one restaurant was open during the day, and it was terrible—bad food, almost no variety. The Italian restaurant(only dinner) was the only decent option, but you’re only allowed to reserve it once. After that, you're stuck with room service, which was sadly the best food we had. We had reliable transportation arranged (as we’ve done on dozens of Mexico trips), but the resort refused to assist us and told us to leave the area—just because we didn’t book directly with them. Don’t expect a beach: it's rocky, steep, and completely unusable. The two pools are small, and there’s zero entertainment or atmosphere. It was boring and disappointing from start to finish. Most guests had different wristbands, while ours had the ******* logo—clearly marking us as low-priority. We understand tiered pricing, but this level of exclusion and poor service was unacceptable. After visiting Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum, and Isla Mujeres over the years, this was by far the worst resort we’ve experienced. We’ve already warned friends and family—don’t waste your money here.

Had a terrible experience towards the end of my stay. We had booked the saloon appointment, but my wife got sick so I called one hour before the appointment time to cancel. The manager on duty insisted that I will still be charged for no show since we did not cancel 24hrs in advance. I explained that I could not foresee sickness 24 hrs. in advance, but he still refused to accept. He told me that the only solution not to be charged is to see a doctor and get a doctor's not. We contacted our doctor in the USA who advised that the best action was to fly back home and get medical attention there since we could have missed our flight if we decided to see a local doctor. After spending thousands of dollars to stay at this high end resort, a very insensitive manager can spoil your entire experience for a no show charge of $50. Dealing with this in addition to a sick wife is a bad experience that I had to share!
