Every other Premier inn I have stayed at has a free car park for the duration of your stay. Bare in mind this hotel charges you £7 a night to park your car and is not clearly stated on the website. To add insult to injury I checked my bank statement and they have charged me twice. 3 nights, £42

The location is convenient, and the beds are comfortable. Those are the good points, now for the bad ones. Upon arrival, the sign in the car park says '£7 per night for Premier Inn Guests'. This unprecedented level of extortion meant that we parked (free) in the road outside. What's worse, is that if you are mug enough to pay, and then leave the car park to come back later, they can't guarantee you a space. That is a breach of contract if ever there was one. We tried the cooked breakfast one morning. It was nowhere near the standard of other Premier Inns we have stayed in, and definitely not worth the price. On another evening, we tried the Thyme restaurant's very limited menu. The restaurant was dingy and dimly lit, and the brought-in-and-reheated food was unappetising and distinctly unsatisfactory. It has a bar of sorts, but with no draught beers, just bottles from a fridge. They definitely don't encourage guests to hang around in the evening, but I suppose it's ok if you just want a bed for the night and move on in the morning.

Amazing stay here at Premier Inn Sandown Merrie Gardens. Breakfast had lots of choice and the chef could not do enough for you. The team were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean. I had a premier plus room which had everything I needed.

We have stayed at this hotel for years but this will be our last stay here, we only booked one night as we stayed in a lodge for the rest of the week, having been to this hotel multiple times a year for years on end we were absolutely disgusted to discover that the car park is now £7 per night to park in meaning that our already over priced room was more expensive, we begrudgingly paid as it was only one night but having previously stayed for a week at a time this would now cost an extra £49 just in car parking when the cost of the room is already ridiculous!! The room its self was shabby looking, there were coffee stains on the ceiling, the beds provided for my teenagers were laughable, both their feet were hanging off the ends of the beds, there were hard wood sides on one of the beds making it very uncomfortable and as one of the beds was just shoved in the middle of the room meaning the headboard was in the way of you getting in the double bed, the other teenagers bed had no headboard at all so had to lean on the wall! The walls were dirty and had bits where the dirt had tried to be covered up with pain instead of painting to whole wall making the unpainted parts look more dirty! All in all shabby and overpriced!!

Fab nights sleep, we had a premier room and the bed was so comfy and the room had a lot of amenities. Parking may be an issue in future so be aware of that, as in it will cost to stay there. The cooked breakfast was lovely and staff were super friendly.

The location of the hotel is excellent for those with a car. Supermarket and eating places within close walking distance. Staff were all very approachable and friendly. Room was fine with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was a bit dated.Shower over the bath would need a hand rail for less mobile and shower soap dispenser did not function well. the toilet seat was loose. No real complaints, however. Good breakfast and, overall, a good value hotel.
