Wonderful hotel, cannot fault anything, reception staff were amazing and very helpful, beds were extremely comfy, food was great. I would highly recommend using this hotel, and I will book a stay there again.

The room was very nice good location

After looking at the outside which looks fantastic and seeing other pictures we chose this hotel to stay in for a business trip to be very disappointed behind the wonderful front is a 1970s prefab building that we was placed in was really outdated, dirty and rundown bits of the carpets missing on the stairs, I'll let my photos speak for the rest of the room

Nice old stone built hotel,in the centre of town,tons of old world charm,staff very good polite and efficient,it's breakfast buffet when busy,and al a carte when quiet,both good but a la carte very good Plenty of on site free parking Would and will stay again

Pretty from the road, but that’s all. VERY tired rooms, not a great first impression on check in either really.. I hear breakfast is nice…. Will see. Eating out this evening that’s for sure!! After a five hour drive not chancing it here. No proper security on the adjoining room door, and to be honest I may as well open it and let the next rooms occupants in as I can hear them so clearly. Dam disappointing to be honest!

Booked through buy a gift luxury 2 night stay for 2 people . We booked it as it said on the site it was a Mercure hotel which it is not as u can see the Mercure has been scratched off . The back of the hotel looks like a council Easter tower block. Carpets look tired and stained . We had a very small basic room not luxury at all. We looked at menu before going to hotel there was plenty of things we liked on there but when we looked when got there the menu was completely different with not a lot of choice. Luckily there are lots of lovely local bars and restaurants near by. Breakfast was cold and unorganised staff were rude and seem to hide in the kitchen leaving dirty tables guests waiting long time for a clean table . We went out during the day at 2 pm I got a call from the hotel asking if we would be dining there that night. I have never benn called by hotel and asked that before we had not made a decision at that point . The reception was hardly maned . The only positive was Monday morning breakfast there was a member staff that was organising breakfast all tables were clean plus it was not buffet so food was hot. Honestly we were so disappointed as this was booked for a 10 year anniversary present. It really is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would tell people to avoid

We were somewhat unsure about this hotel after reading the reviews but decided that there were enough good reviews to give it a chance. When booking, I made it quite clear that as both my wife and myself had some walking difficulties it was imperative we were on a floor without stairs for access or near to a lift, we were promised a low floor near to the lift. When we arrived at our room after having to climb stairs, I returned to reception to say we had not been given what we were promised, we were told that #1: The lift was not working, and #2: we could not be moved until the following day. The new room we were allocated the following day was fine, no long walks involved and no stairs to climb, so all was now well. For the rest of our Four night stay we enjoyed our stay very much, the hotel is in a very good location, has a private free and secure car park and with easy access to most of the places of interest in Banbury, and you are straight on to the road that takes you towards West Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. The breakfast food was plenty with a good selection and choice. All the staff we encountered were very, very helpful, polite and accommodating. We have no real complaints about our stay in this splendid building of a hotel, and if the weather is good there is a lovely garden area to the rear of the building. Thank you to everyone who made our stay an enjoyable one.

Nice hotel, just about squeezed the car through the tiny gap between two buildings (glad we don’t have a SUV) but a free carpark in the town centre is a bonus! Nice entrance, room is dated but expected for an old building. Unfortunately there were lots of tiny black hairs all down the bath. I only stayed one night so decided not to shower. We asked for decaf teabags and they gave us some which was nice. No bin in the room, which is awkward having to leave rubbish on the table, bathroom bin was normal small bin. Breakfast was nice, enough to choose from. It’s close to town, minute walk to shops and restaurants. We ate pizza at Pizza Calzone, it was delicious pizza. A nice stay for a great price, I think the cleaner just needs to be given a bit more time in the room to clear cobwebs and hairs.
