This game lodge is perfectly located in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. We stayed in one of their tents but it was covered with a canvas rainfly and a thatched roof so even when it rained we stayed dry. The full board option was also fantastic, because all of the meals were delicious. My wife and I ended up ordering different things so we could keep trying a little of everything. But the best part is that because it is inside the national park, the animals come right through the camp. Inside the camp we saw Elephants several times, and could hear both lions and Hyenas. The camp also set us up on a boat cruise of the Kazinga Channel and morning game drive where we saw Hippos, lion, antelope, warthogs, plains buffalo, and so many more things. Patience was the server who took care of us the whole time and even though I had one day of dehydration sickness, she made sure I was stocked up with ginger tea to help me hydrate and ease my stomach.

A night at Engine Campsite is what every budget traveler secretly hopes for but rarely finds. It’s simple, affordable, and somehow feels like a five-star stay — just without walls, Wi-Fi passwords, or fake luxury. Instead, you get something better: space, silence, and a sky so full of stars it feels unreal. Easily ten thousand of them, minimum. We fell asleep to the sounds of nature and woke up surrounded by it. During our stay, a couple of elephants casually passed by, as if they were part of the welcome committee. No fences, no drama — just respectful distance and a reminder that this is their land first. Food was a highlight. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all included, and every meal was fresh, filling, and genuinely delicious. The kind of food that tastes even better because you’ve spent the day outdoors. Nothing fancy, just honest cooking done right. What really made the experience special was the staff. Warm, attentive, and incredibly kind, they took care of us in a way that felt natural, not forced. We were looked after from start to finish, with smiles, patience, and a real sense of pride in what they do. Engine Campsite proves that you don’t need luxury to feel spoiled — just good people, good food, wild surroundings, and a sky that never sleeps.

Wir hatten perfekte Urlaubstage in der Engiri Game Lodge. Das Personal war super nett und aufmerksam, das Essen toll, Unterkunft und Betten bequem, auch im Zelt. Man merkt, dass die Lodge im Nationalpark liegt. Ständig konnten wir Tiere auf dem Gelände der Lodge beobachten: täglich kamen Elefanten vorbei, nachts auch Flusspferde, außerdem Wasserböcke, Warzenschweine, Agamen, viele unterschiedliche Vögel und einmal sogar Büffel. Das Personal passt 24/7 auf, dass nichts passiert, sind ja schließlich alles Wildtiere. Einfach super, danke Peter!

Gebucht haben wir ein 4-Bett Zelt, das nicht verfügbar war, weswegen wir ein kostenloses Upgrade auf einen Familienbungalow erhalten haben. Die Lodge liegt im Park, was bedeutet, dass nachts Tiere durch die Anlage laufen können. Ab Einbruch der Dunkelheit wird man vom Personal auf seine Zimmer begleitet und auch morgens zum Frühstück abgeholt. Nachts konnte ich ein Hippo von meinem Fenster aus sehen. Ansonsten ist es total ruhig, wir haben die Ruhe inmitten des Parks sehr genossen. Die Bungalows sind geräumig, sauber und haben Elektrizität. WLAN ist nur im Haupthaus vorhanden. Das gesamte Personal ist zuvorkommend, aufmerksam und äußerst freundlich. Das Essen ist total lecker und die Tische sind liebevoll gedeckt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wären gerne noch länger geblieben.

Nous avons séjourné 2 nuits dans ce lodge au top avec en plein park Queen Elizabeth ou il faut être accompagner un garde la nuit tombé car vous rencontrez des animaux sauvages, nous avons eu l'expérience dans le nuit avec 2 hippopotames.

Angekommen und sofort wohl gefühlt, deshalb haben wir auch gleich um eine Nacht verlängert. Das Essen und die Mitarbeiter:innen sind seeehr toll. Das Restaurant im ersten Stock perfekt für schöne Sonnenuntergänge. Wir hatten ein Zelt gebucht und wirklich sehr gut geschlafen. Gleich am ersten Tag wurden wir von 2 Elefanten „begrüßt“, die Rund um die Unterkunft leben. Was auch sehr toll ist: dass man verschiedene Ausflüge, mit super Guides direkt übers Hotel buchen kann. On était dans les tentes en dure avec sanitaires communs. Pb : l'eau chaude dépend de vos voisins, et de leur égoïsme... Quand on reste 3 plombes sous la douche il ne reste plus d'eau chaude pour les autres... Sinon environnement top avec la visite des éléphants la nuit et le matin. Le personnel de sécurité très sympa. Le reste du personnel sympa Petit déj bof mais pas cata.

Great location - 10 minutes drive to QENP entrance gate & with many wild animals visiting the area daily - staff will accompany you to your lodge during hours of darkness to ensure you’re safe when it comes to any animal encounters. Really nice lodgings - comfortable beds, mosquito nets, hot showers. Exceptional staff - everyone was so welcoming and took great care of us, from check-in to check-out. The food was wonderful - 4 courses at night, 3 courses at lunch and a big breakfast. Really enjoyed the option to try local dishes, which were all great. Thanks for a memorable stay.
