I have just spent Bank holiday weekend at Virginia Cottage in Bowness, and would highly recommend, particularly if you are a doggie owner. The lovely decorated rooms are so clean and well equipped, and it was a pleasure to meet Angus and Sherry who were so very welcoming. Bon and I will certainly be returning.

Stayed in the skylight room last minute on a day out and Angus the lovely owner met us at the property within five mins. Central location, parking a couple of mins walk away. Room spotless and tasteful. Drinks tray good and lovely biscuits too! Had to leave before breakfast unfortunately. Host really helpful and knowledgeable, recommended some great bars and restaurants. We stumbled across this gem by accident but will definitely be back for a longer stay!

We had a fabulous stay at the Virginia Cottage whilst visiting the area. Angus and Sherry (the owners) made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Angus has a mindful of knowledge on the area which made it easier for our stay and locations to visit. This was topped off with a lovely ensuite room and the breakfast well it's just fantastic. Such a shame we had to leave and will definitely be going back. We highly recommend staying here.

Last minute trip in the sun, a couple of nights with the pooch, we were made very welcome with special treats for the pooch including his breakfast sausages. which he loved. Amazingly friendly and brilliant room and facilities including superb breakfast for us. Perfect location right in the centre of everything, 2 mins from the lake. Highly recommend to anyone .. Thanks guys .. Room number 1 ...

Amazing stay for our anniversary. Angus and Sherry perfect hosts, nothing too much trouble. Had a suite with four poster bed, which was very comfy, own lounge area with mini fridge and tv. En-suite bathroom with jacuzzi bath. All spotlessly clean. Breakfast choice superb, you could have cereal and toast or the full English, or anything in between, Angus would accommodate whatever you requested. Recommended lots of things to do. Would definitely recommend going on one of the cruises round Lake Windermere.

We booked this b and b as a last minute getaway for the bank holiday weekend. We travelled by motorbike and the owners went out of their way to ensure we had somewhere safe to leave the bike outside the property. Angus and his wife were so accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious enough. We were in room 5 which had a fantastic view down to the square. The bathroom was small but did the job required. This is not a delux boutique hotel so do not expect top of the range luxury, but for the price paid (nearly £100 a night cheaper than where we usually stay) we could not have asked for a better place… amazing location right at the heart of Bowness, lovely friendly owners, a fantastic breakfast and a clean and comfortable room. Thank you, we will most definitely return.

A very pleasant stay, the hosts could not do enough for us. Breakfast was fantastic. The whole place was very clean and is situated ideally for local shops and pubs. Also not too far for the boat trips.

Issues consistently with the bathtub. From the arrival once the big man heard me running the water in the 'spa bath', he seemed to get an immediate aggression,. it barely worked. I clean EVERY bath on entry. Water was Lukewarm at best, which again , seemed an issue from the start. I did not enjoy Angus' attitude at all. The size of him over Sherry, and he is clearly a big bully. Does NOT like to be debated with. Made the entire visit uncomfortable.
