Solitude in the Cedars. This cozy, but spacious, mountain home is nestled on 10 quiet acres of wooded forest giving you an extremely private feel. Located next to Sierra Cedars and a 10-minute drive from Shaver Village, this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath cabin accommodates 3 families (6 adults and 6 children) very comfortably. The Great room with it's soaring ceilings, wood floors, massive rock wall and wall of windows offers plenty of space to gather in front of the fire and the large dining table expands to seat up to 12 people. The Great room wraps into the nicely appointed kitchen with lots of counter space, seating for 4 at the bar and all your food prep necessities. The large master bedroom on the ground floor has a king bed and large private bath with oversized tub, separate shower and double sinks. Upstairs find bedroom 2 with a king bed and queen futon sofa, bedroom 3 with queen bed and door to the upstairs covered deck, the "bunkroom" with bunk beds and full sofa futon, plus a loft/game area with pull-out sofa. Outside a large sunny wood deck with grill and large family table opens to the surrounding forest for enjoying beautiful summer days and warm evenings, clear sky stargazing year-round, horseshoes, and s'mores by the fire pit. In winter, enjoy sledding, snow ball fights, building a snowman on site. The mudroom off the garage is perfect for storing lake time toys and snowy day gear. This home has year-round access off an unpaved private road. The road is plowed during winter, but a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended in winter. Activities Nearby: Shaver Lake is 15 minutes away where you can enjoy Camp Edison. They offer a full marina, rentals and beach day use areas for summer fun. China Peak is 45 minutes up the road for a winter day of skiing/riding. Explore the Dinkey Creek area, visit the historic Mill Camp or the famous giant sequoias at McKinley Grove. Enjoy fishing, hiking, and the many OHV trails. For great history of the area visit the Museum of the Sierras located at Camp Edison. Our home has one of the best views in all of Shaver and you'll enjoy looking out over the forest watching along as the clouds roll by throughout your stay. Perched on a solid granite slab overlooking the Sierra National Forest with Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park off in the distance, this is a perfect spot to launch into the forest for hiking and outdoor exploration. In the winter, children can sled right outside the downstairs sliding doors and then come inside and warm up next to the fireplace. Or enjoy your time skiing at China Peak, only 21 miles up the road from our home. When there isn't snow there is lots of runaround space in the gated neighborhood. Bring bikes and scooters, or set up a game of whiffle ball at the end of the cul-de-sac. In the summer, Shaver Lake Marina is 4 miles up the road.The outside is brought indoors with a 2400 sq. ft. reverse floor plan space featuring great views. Slate flooring and bathrooms, wood flooring in the common living area, knotty pine accents throughout the home, and handmade pine barnyard sliding doors as your gateway to the outdoors. Delight in the carefully curated decor of handmade and vintage pieces, mid-century modern furnishings, and rustic elements reminiscent of an old mountain home. The kitchen features a full array of KitchenAid stainless steel appliances including a range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher - everything you need to enjoy an evening meal after a long day of mountain and lake activities. Pull up a stool at the fifteen foot granite counter to chit chat, eat breakfast, solve a puzzle, or play a hand of cards. In the morning, grab a cup of coffee or tea and head out to the balcony seating area which offers an astonishing view of the sun rising over the mountain ridge. The balcony is a great spot to read and talk while the kids play outside below. The living area is furnished with a solid distressed pine sideboard stocked with many of our favorite games and puzzles for all ages to enjoy and spend hours playing together. Prepare your own home cooked meal or get take out from Cressman's or Shaver Lake Pizza (our family favorites) and eat at the reclaimed solid pine dining table. In the evenings, sink into the buttery Italian-tanned leather sofa around the gas fireplace, which turns on with the flick of a switch. All flatscreen televisions are equipped with DISH TV, equipped with hundreds of channels, including Sirius XM. The upstairs Master Suite also has a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, dual walk-in slate shower and a king size bed. There are two bedrooms downstairs with a full bathroom located in the downstairs hallway. All comforters are 100% down with duvet covers. Linens and towels are provided.This is a quiet neighborhood with only a few rentals. This is a single-family home rental with HOA rules that are expected to be honored. We feel very blessed to have this as our vacation home and ask that renters be considerate to not just our home but also to our neighbors. It's disheartening for all of us when people are disruptive and leave litter on the granite slab, which is a common area to us all. Please feel welcomed and at home because we've incorporated so many things for others to enjoy, but also be mindful to the property and the nature surrounding it so that we can continue to open it to guests. It has been updated for 2021 with new interior paint, new carpet in all rooms, 65 inch smart TV’s in every bedroom upstairs, family room, and the game room has been updated with an 82 inch smart TV with surround sound to create a movie theatre for all. There is also a new slate 7-foot pool table in the game room. In addition, a wall heater was added in the game room with an electric fireplace under the 82-inch TV. There are two refrigerators, one in the kitchen and one in garage to support large groups. The water heater was replaced with a tank less water heater, so there is no need to “split” shower times with large groups.
