博爾若米金色鬱金香飯店(Golden Tulip Borjomi)

I stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst on an Intrepid trip of Caucasus, and therefore I did not select it myself. That said, this hotel was supposed to be our 'feature stay' and to be honest I'm not sure why! The hotel itself is in a great location right next to the cable car that goes up to Borjami, and is an ex-Iranian palace. The interior is beautiful in the state rooms, so it was really disappointing to find that the bar was closed for the whole time we were there, as was the cafe with the romantic garden. When our guide asked why, we couldn't get a proper answer out of the manager. The breakfast room was also beautiful, but was let down by a very sp**** / tardy breakfast being laid out, which let it down a bit. Room-wise it was pretty small and also very dark - which wasn't an issue as were barely in the rooms, but I wouldn't describe them as 'feature'. I was also slightly concerned about maintenance - there were a couple of tables / chairs outside the rooms on the balcony - I sat on one and the leg fell off, which caused me to fall on the floor! Overall I really wanted to love this place, but it was let down in a few parts, and therefore I can't really score it more highly. I think if all of its features had been open, it could have been a different story.

Indiscutablement c’est un magnifique bâtiment et c’est la raison pour laquelle j’avais choisi cet hôtel. Mais, et c’est assez frustrant, en étant hôte de l’hôtel, on n’accède pas en fait aux pièces somptueuses (sauf à réserver la Suite) et les chambres sont d’une simplicité voire d’un dépouillement rare : pas même une chaise, pas de table, pas d’endroit où déposer ses affaires. On cherche vainement les 4 étoiles de cet établissement, surtout au petit déjeuner qui est tout simplement indigne d’un 4 * : pas de pain (si si ! Il y a juste des toasts industriels), pas de beurre… et arrivant du Rooms Kazbegi (4 * etoiles également) on mesure une différence considérable. Alors oui c’est un bel hôtel, de l’extérieur mais finalement on ne profite pas tant que ça du lieu. En revanche l’hôtel propose de vous réserver le spa une heure (jacuzzi, Hammam, sauna) ce qui est très agréable.

Why you should hesitate this hotel: - it is a dirty B&B , not a 4 star hotel, so it is a waste of money - room is not clean, you will find hairs of previous guests including rubishes on the floor here & there - sleeping quality is under zero. Low quality of mattress. -it is simply noisy, noise from rooms beside, noise from indoor garden -it is smelling. You smell inside your room whatever is cooking in the kitchen, day and night -it is not maintained, sun light through the crack of your room’s door, dirty and damp curtain,etc…. -no one is wearing uniform and badge of hotel, you don’t know who is who😂 See the attached photo, coffee service of 4 star hotel at brakefast time

Die Ausstattung passt zu dem Haus, ist aber nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Das Haus war ehemals die Villa eines persischen Schahs. Es verfügt über keinen Aufzug. Wir konnten froh sein, dass wegen Corona das Restaurant nebenan geschlossen war, sonst hätte man nicht einmal ein Fenster öffnen können, da jeder in das Zimmer hätte sehen können. Die Sauberkeit war grenzwertig. In einer Ecke lag ein Bademantelgürtel der die ganze Zeit über nicht entfernt wurde. An einem Morgen hatten wir Frühstück a la carte und am anderen Buffet. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Kurpark. Das Hotel hat einen schönen Innenhof, indem auch das Restaurant ist. Das Essen im Restaurant war gut und die Bedienung OK.

Very elegant hotel set next to the park which didn’t matter to us. What was Really nice was that this hotel is on the main tourist drag with plenty of small restaurants serving delicious Georgian food. It has a tiled, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Bar is lovely and I think Luca he was the person at the bar that evening was very helpful and showed us to the minister’s original suite. The manager was also nice and efficient. Breakfast is adequate but no where we went in Georgia did they serve good coffee.

Was looking forward to our stay here but was the worst experience and stay in Georgia. Despite 31 degree days heating was on so rooms were intolerable. The heating gets turned off in May we were told So noisy so couldn’t sleep! Wi-Fi very poor.

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the start of April. We had a single room and a standard twin room. The location of this hotel is very good, right next to the Central Park on the tourist street and opposite the Crowne Plaza which costs a little more. The building is historic and nicely restored. The rooms are clean and relatively new, although the style is a bit dated. They have good facilities, fridge, safe, robes, kettle etc, we had a bit of trouble with the telly but got it to work eventually. Unfortunately the beds are not very comfortable, the mattresses are not good quality. We used the spa which was nice. Staff were friendly and the WiFi worked. Overall this is a good hotel especially out of season when the area is quiet. In high season I think it would probably be quite noisy as the hotel has wooden floor corridors and is in the middle of the tourist ***** with a restaurant next door. Borjomi is beautiful and well worth staying in for a couple of nights. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

Wonderful old historic building that has been turned into a very comfortable hotel. Rooms are off terraces that go around a central courtyard. Rooms are comfortable and clean if not a little dark. There is an available private spa which is much better than the advertised Old Tsar sulphur pools. Only drawback is lack of evening restaurant, although there are several good local diner restaurants.

This hotel has an ornate exterior, & the lovely glasswork in the breakfast room & elegant, understated bar reflect the origins of the building, the 1892 home of the Iranian ambassador. The location is superb, next to the entrance of the park & its mineral water fountain, on one side, and shops & restaurants on the other. The huge Crowne Plaza is less than a block away. The sleeping rooms are very small, but that is not significant to be in such a special building. The shower works very well, as does the AC. The manager goes out of her way to be helpful, whether in calling for & talking to my taxi driver or giving suggestions on dinner & sites. I would only suggest improving the breakfast-more fruit & baked goods. Many comparable hotels have expresso machines for breakfast. Borjomi is a wonderful town to visit. The natural beauty is stunning. I was not planning on coming here & am so glad I did! It’s also on the way between the Black Sea & Tbilisi, closer to the latter.
