熊耳旅館(Bears Ears Inn)

Bears Ears Inn i Blanding var vores base i 3 dage. Blanding ligger ganske praktisk i forhold til mange seværdigheder i Utahs sydøstlige hjørne og Colorados sydvestlige. Stedet er fint og velordnet. Det er motel-lignende etværelses lejligheder i 2 etager. Alt fungerede fint. Morgenmaden var ok. Der er en god spiserestaurant lige overfor.

The 1st room we were assigned had not been cleaned. Sheets were still crumpled on the beds, Room 124. The 2nd room was in the same condition, Room 123. We agreed with front desk for us to go to dinner, then try for another room. Room 109 was clean and ready. However, around 11PM, the internet went down, so no TV viewing was available.

The hotel was overpriced for what you got. Check in wasn't all that friendly with little information to go with the stay.

Recent remodel makes this place pretty sweet, and the new general manager is absolutely awesome. Very friendly and hospitable, and prepares a great breakfast with fresh ingredients and keeps it hot for people straggling in. The only things preventing a five-star rating are relatively minor. Three things: 1. Need more or heavier blanket or comforter, especially for a winter stay 2. There are no hooks to hang things up in the bathroom, which the general manager says is on his list, 3. Would be nice to have a luggage rack or two to keep things up off the floor.

I really liked the place on the first night, which was Christmas (25th-26th). It was a very quiet evening with almost zero traffic on the road. The next evening there was a lot of traffic noise. And there was a lot of noise from someone two doors down entering their room at 12:45 am and their car horn honking when they locked it remotely. It was not a restful night. As I laid there awake, I remember wishing that I’d brought my camping gear and avoided staying in the motel. It seems like I’m often disappointed that I spent good money for a poor night of sleep. What is wrong with people these days who only throw no of themselves and not who they might be disturbing with their noise in the wee hours of the morning? I did find the staff to be friendly and helpful. And the room was pretty nice and clean. But if I ever choose to stay at the Bears Ears Inn again, I’ll make sure that I bring ear plugs.

The staff was phenomenal. When checking in I had made an error in booking the room. I had booked for December and it should have been in November. It wa no problem, they fixed the error and I was checked in in a flash. They provided excellent dining advice. The room was comfortable and clean. The only reason I didn't give them an excellent rating was because the TV situation wasn't to my liking. Guess I'm old school and like to see local channels. They just had streaming tv. It was a positive and enjoyable experience.
