This place is fantastic. Had dinner at the pub which was really good home cooked food, and they serve a decent pint too. The inn keeper is a thoroughly nice chap as too the landlady. The room was very comfortable and had a great bed, fantastic views, nice and warm and with a great shower. Only stayed one night for a work trip but I’ll be back. Top marks. Rich

This a nice, down to earth pub. There are good 80s music videos on the television. The landlord and chef are really helpful. There is a friendly atmosphere. The food is freshly cooked and good value (great chips). I had the cheese and broccoli bake. I'll go again.

Well what can I say but FANTASTIC ! My wife & I stayed here for two nights and loved every minute. The owners Tyrone & Jennifer are both great, friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, with great countryside views as well as flat screen TV, a good powerful shower and the heating was very quick and efficient making it a warm and cosy place to stay, as it was quite cold & wet when we were there. As for the food - Wow ! Both the full English breakfasts and our evening meals were fantastic ! Hot, well presented, very tasty and great quality, we would not go anywhere else. Great company, we were made to feel very welcome - if you are travelling in this area then you need look no further - The Golden Lion is an excellent place to stay at a very competitive price ....

It was ok, small room, bunk beds, but toilet door wouldn't close at all it was so ill fitted which made it awkward to say the least, could do with a bit more tlc for what we paid. Pub attached which did meals, accommodation feels like it's an add on.
