Room was good. Only problem was they are doing a lot of building work to the hotel so a lot of noise early on!!!

We often come here and was looking forward to seeing the revamp . The Self Check-In is in the new bar area and if it doesn’t work you have to wait at the bar to check in between the tables , chairs and guests with your cases and family , so avoid arriving at meal times and evenings when the bar is busy. The new re vamp has made it look really lovely but it is no longer wheelchair or child friendly. There is very little space for wheelchair users to independently move around the restaurant nor get anything themselves for breakfast , as everything is so high up ! The old restaurant catered for everyone and sadly the new one doesn’t. The forks bend as you use them, the food quality was budget and took far too long to arrive at the table and then needed to be sent back as the eggs were like rubber. The drinks at the bar are astronomical ! 330ml of zero Coca Cola ( a can size ) over £3.00 ! Rooms are still the same but wasn’t pleased that for the whole of our stay the dirty laundry was left right by the lifts all day and night . Check-In awful and it’s far better to walk down the road to restaurants and bars that are more affordable and child and disabled friendly.

It’s changed from being a comfortable welcoming base to stay, still ongoing works, no actual reception now it’s automated or part of bar staff duties. The restaurant is no longer Brewers Fayre, it’s their own in house smaller affair. The prices of drinks has jumped up £3.50 for a coke, 330ml so basically a can in a glass, a pint getting on for £7, food equally as expensive. We visit here quite often, we normally eat and drink on site, but not at those prices, when there’s a Wetherspoons a couple of minutes walk away. We gave the breakfast a go, but that was a farce as well, whilst it is all you can eat, the items have reduced in size. Sausages are not quite a cocktail size but are a lot smaller than a normal one, hash browns have shrunk, it’s the first time I have sent a fried egg back, when you can pick it up with a fork and it’s like a rubber toy egg, how can you even serve that. Basically they have reduced produce to cheap and nasties, so if using their breakfast option, double up on your order to get a decent portion. It seems in house is a get rich quick scam with a captive audience, we will now be checking who the restaurants are operated by before booking to ensure it’s not a rip off, Beefeater and Brewers Fayre are the best option.

First, the good bits. My wife thought the breakfast options were good value (I didn’t have breakfast). The location was good. The lift was efficient. The room size was good (but it was a triple room). The tv worked. The room was clean. The room temperature was fine. First impressions were poor. Two members of staff chatted amongst themselves watching me for five minutes try to scan the bar code to get our room key when we arrived. When I told them the scanner did not work, one of them said you need to enter the code manually, as if this was a long standing problem. I didn’t mind the room not being cleaned during our four night stay because we asked for and were given two fresh bath towels after two days. If, however, we are to clean our own rooms, perhaps Premier Inn could provide a toilet brush ? The bath/shower was difficult to enter/exit (I am 66) and just one grab rail would have made me feel safer. I was completely unaware until I was asked to submit this review that we could have upgraded our wi-fi for £5. My wife got a code for 24 hour ultimate wi-fi when she purchased breakfast but neither of us could connect to it.

We got here at around 11, and were able to do an early check in which was good. They put us outside in the annex building, and as soon as we opened the door to the room, we were hit with a very strong chemically smell, and felt stuffy and damp. We were about to head out, so thought we would leave the window open a little to give the room some fresh air, but the windows did not open at all! Assuming it is because we were 4 meters away from the railway tracks (which was not mentioned when booking), but even in that case it should be able to be opened just even a crack. After a long day out, we got back around 9pm and the room still had the overpowering smell of chemicals and damp. We put the air on overnight which helped the smell in the bedroom a bit, but the smell in the bathroom was still too much. The night sleep was the worst we have ever had in a premier inn. Both of us woke every hour to the sound of banging from the room upstairs, along with the sound of trains going by. The bed wasn’t comfortable, and the sheets were covered in stains. Mould on walls in the corner of the bedroom, and on the walls/ceiling in the bathroom. We ended up leaving at 7:30am because we just wanted to get out for some fresh air and both had headaches from this room!

Chambre familiale très propre et bien disposée. Lits confortables. Une bouilloire et des sticks de café et thés disponibles mais pas suffisamment. Je n'ai pas pensé à en redemander mais je suis sur qu'ils m'en auraient donné.
