2 nuits en chambre double deluxe Hôtel de charme, architecture locale, magnifiquement placé sur le square Dattareya. Accueil chaleureux. Les chambres présentent cependant des inconvénients certains, voir même dangereux: escaliers d'accès très pentus (impossibles avec bagages), éclairages dans la chambre très insuffisants (il faut se lever du lit pour avoir accès aux boutons de la lumière et ensuite revenir au lit avec plusieurs marches d'escalier à descendre dans le noir); pas de rangement pour les vêtements; pas de table de chevet. Wifi aléatoire. Salle de bain succincte, sans aucune séparation entre douche et WC. Tout est arrosé quand on se lave et surtout l'ampoule "nue" située au dessus de la douche et ses fils d'alimentation électriques assemblés au chatterton; attention a l'électrocution! Depuis la chambre, on entends les bruits de la chambre contigüe et surtout ceux des clients rassemblés dans la zone de restauration et dont les débordements vocaux résonnent de partout. Petit déjeuner servi à table; choix restreint et plats peu copieux; service très lent.

Hotel zit in een historisch mooi en net gebouw. Echt iets waar je het thuis over kunt hebben Op een centrale locatie. Je gaat merken dat lokale bewoners nooit groot waren. Warme ontvangst. Heerlijk ontbijt. We hebben hier ook gedineerd. Dat was de beste keuze van alle plaatsen waar we in Bhakatapur hebben gegeten

de verwachtingen van dit hotel waren hoog. mooie kamer, mooi uitzicht op het plein. maar als er ‘s avonds een dikke rat over de vloer van je kamer loopt is de lol er heel snel af. Nadat we dat bij de receptie aangaven werd er heel laconiek op gereageerd en kregen we min of meer de indruk dat het onze eigen schuld was omdat we chips mee hadden op de kamer. de eigenaresse beroept zich op de oudheid van het hotel. alsof het heel normaal is dat je een rat op je kamer kan aantreffen. zowel de nachtportier als de eigenaars toonde geen enkele medeleven over dat wij een rat op de kamer niet oké vinden. we kregen weliswaar direct een kleine kamer ergens achter in het hotel maar de beleving was volledig weg. de kamer aan de voorzijde met de mooie ramen zit vol gaten onder de zitjes bij deze ramen waardoor ongedierte gemakkelijk binnen kan komen. ze hebben waarschijnlijk nog nooit van pur schuim gehoord. wij hadden gehoopt op een geweldige ervaring maar zijn de de ochtend erop gelijk vertrokken naar een ander hotel omdat er vanuit de eigenaresse totaal geen begrip was voor de voor ons vervelende ervaring. ben je overigens langer dan 1,8 meter, dan raad ik dit hotel ook af. dus niet geschikt voor lange mensen. dat merk je al bij de ingang. het hotel is gebouwd voor hele kleine Nepalese mensen. en als je niet tegen stof kunt moet je er ook niet heen. het is binnen net zo stoffig al buiten. voor ons dus een hotel om snel te vergeten.

I’m usually hesitant to leave negative reviews knowing the impact they can have on small businesses, but I was a little surprised by the many glowing reviews here. Perhaps I should have booked one of the more premium rooms. First impressions were good. I was offered a complimentary coffee on arrival and the courtyard where Mayur restaurant sits is a charming space. The room itself wasn’t terrible and had enough space, but it did feel like it could use a refresh. The bathroom was the low point with raw concrete finishing, some cobwebs in the corners and very low ceilings with exposed beams that I bumped into more than once. With some basic maintenance and a good scrub the place could really do justice to the beautiful building. I also had dinner at Mayur one evening and was the only guest there, and the service made me feel a little like I was imposing, which was a shame for such a nice spot. On the plus side, breakfast was good.

Peacock Guest House, around the corner from the Peacock Window is a wonderful place from which to explore ancient Baltapur. A welcoming host, excellent food, attractive and immaculately clean rooms, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peter and Mary, England

Staying at Peacock GH was one of the best experiences I've ever had on my travels. It's a beautiful building, that's been preserved equally beautifully. You probably need 1 whole day just taking it in. Aru & Prava, the proprietor & proprietress sibling duo, take so much pride in giving guests the best experience ever, you won't want to leave. The best part, they make you feel at home & comfortable so gently & kindly, without being invasive in any manner whatsoever. And the food, especially the momos, they were delicious. Breakfast was generous & as heavenly as the coffee. Mayur, the in-house restaurant, certainly lived up to the reviews. Being at the doorstep of the awe-inspiring Dattatreya Temple & the peace invoking Dattatreya Square are other definite pluses. Not staying here when visiting Bhaktapur will be doing yourselves a huge disservice, unless you can't manage stairs, coz all rooms are only accessible via stairs

Beautiful building - 700 year old building with wood carving and little doorways. Rooms were tastefully fitted - with good linen bedding and soft furnishings. Very simple, with clean and beautiful aesthetic. Excellent location in the square - good restaurants close by. Fried tofu was excellent for breakfast.

What a stunning and historic guesthouse! It truly feels like stepping into a magical realm, where the spirit of centuries past comes alive. Upon entering, you instantly sense the rich history that has withstood the test of time. The rooms are delightful, and while the bathroom in our room was quite basic, it was perfectly understandable and did not detract from our experience at all. The restaurant, set in a charming courtyard surrounded by lush plants and beautiful statues, offers a delicious dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. The warm hospitality from the reception staff, along with the owner, made our stay even more special; they truly are wonderful people. I highly recommend this gem of a place, especially for its prime location right on the famous square and just a stone's throw from the temple!

We loved staying at the Peacock Guest House!! It sits in a really great location in Dattatreya Square, so there’s always something to see right outside the front door. We loved how this 700 year old building has been so lovingly restored to present a comfortable, stylish hotel that is also sympathetic to its Newari roots. The showers were hot, the rooms comfortable, cosy and warm. A hiccup in our plans meant we needed to stay one more night than we had booked and the owners accommodated us without any problem. In fact, they were such lovely people and really made the experience pleasant. With such a beautiful hotel to stay in, we didn’t mind staying an extra night as it gave us a chance to explore Bhaktapur even more. And because they’re so centrally located it was easy to get out and see local attractions like Durbar Square and Pottery Square. We look forward to staying here again when we return to. Bhaktapur in the future.
