Bunk+Brew 歷史 Lucas House - 青年旅舍

I was really looking forward to staying here and I was pretty disappointed. I liked the food trucks on a Friday evening and there was live music too. I stayed in the woman's 4 person room and I was the only one there that night. It was threadbare and dirty. There was only one nightstand and it was very worn. There were no table or chairs, but there was a place to hang clothes. There are some lockers in the hallway, but they were too small for a 21" suitcase or a duffle bag. In the morning, I looked in at the shower and it was so dirty I could not use it. I went to the main kitchen and the cabinets were so old that the wood was warped. It was also messy. But the last straw was that there was no dishwasher. In a shared space, sanitary dishes are a must! I have never stayed in a hostel without a dishwasher. I won't rely on the previous guests for cleaning the dishes well when they are are in a hurry to leave. So I left, unwashed and unfed. I have stayed in many hostels and this was the worst.

I've stayed at several hostels over the years and always had a great experience. unfortunately, my stay at Bunk and Brew in Bend was a disappointment. I opted for the women's dorm room. The room felt quite small for two sets of bunk beds. There were no chairs, no place to sit, no bedside table. All of that is not a big deal; however, the carpet was so filthy that I couldn't bring myself to place my bare feet on it. The upstairs has seven rooms each with multiple beds, yet there was only one toilet and one shower. The bathroom was dirty, the shower was covered in pink and black slime. There was an additional bathroom on the main floor where the common areas are located and was also dirty. The kitchen was dirty, food crumbs covered the counters, smears of food on the refrigerator, and the dishwashing station didn't look sanitary. It was hard to even get around in the kitchen as when I was there, it was filled with locals who I was made to believe just hang out there not paying for use of the facilities. On the good side, I had a great experience with the staff person Basil who checked me in and showed me around the property. There is a sauna house that was much cleaner than the main house. The patio area was nice, and I met some really cool people. In the end, I canceled my last two nights' reservation. I sent an email to the Bunk and Brew management to give them a chance to respond to my experience but to date have not had a response from them.

A genuinely filthy place. Hard to believe it's in Bend Oregon😔. The bathrooms are so gross that I had to take a sink bath at my job site. I went to cancel my reservation for the second night long before checkout time and they have ignored my voicemails and emails therefore stealing money from me. These crooks are not honorable and the place is not desirable in any way shape or form.

The place itself is great. But and this is not something snyone can really do but when sleeping in a hostel environment and you snore loudly, it makes it very difficult for others. It would be good for the property to not leave other guests to deal with it. I couldn’t sleep in the room I paid for and slept in my car instead. Otherwise the property is great. You get vibe, with good trucks and drink choices.

I loved the price! All I needed was a bed but also really enjoyed the fire and hearing music with folks milling about in a relaxed setting. The free beer was another perk way above and beyond anything expected.

Great for what I needed it for. The beds were not nearly as comfortable as the Portland Kex, but I got a free beer “token”.
