We highly recommend saving $ by getting an Airbnb in Bend unless you love golf. Juniper Preserve (JP) is 30-60 minutes away from ALL activities. Typically, in a resort stay, that wouldn't be a problem; however, JP far oversells what they offer.
1) The website lists 4 restaurants. In reality, there is ONE overpriced restaurant & 1 small coffee bar. The menu is the same for lunch, dinner, & poolside.
2) The resort lacks a policy regarding inappropriate guests. The sole activity is a salt water pool with a jacuzzi. We would have spent more time there, but two other guests relentlessly followed us from pool to hot tub to pool, touched us underwater, & were so creepy in what they said/how they looked at us that we were forced to leave the pool area multiple times. At other locations we have stayed, staff keep an eye out & blacklist inappropriate guests.
3) JP advertises feeding 2 swans on the property as an activity both online & on brochures. We went on an evening walk that looped around the pond w/o any data indicating that could be a bad choice. We ended up being attacked by the male swan, which is objectively hilarious, but was truly scary. There was ONE sign on 600 acres saying swans were not to be fed due to nesting season. Why not tell guests that info at check-in?
4) The spa seemed incredible. We will never know b/c there was only ONE - fully booked - masseuse available for a 3-day weekend.
We write this in hopes of helping you save $, stay safe, & have fun in Bend.
